I'm looking at booking a J special BKK-HEL-CPH, TLL-HEL-BKK return.

The change fee is 4000 Thai Baht.

If I decide later I want to fly out of somewhere other than Tallinn - e.g. Riga, or go somewhere else in Europe, I know when you buy the fare the European connection from HEL is normally free.

Would the change fee be a flat 4000 Baht. Is it possible to change the connection on return rather than merely time/date.

Just had a look at the Finnair website - not sure what date you had in mind - I checked a random out/back in November.

Under 'business saver', if you expand the table it says:

- * In addition to the listed change fee, the fare difference (if applicable) and a reissue fee is collected when the routing or fare type changes. In USA the reissue fee is 25USD. In addition to the listed cancellation fee, a service fee is collected for all partial refunds. In USA the service fee is 75USD.If the reservation was made seven days or more prior to the flight's scheduled departure time, you can cancel it within 24 hours without refund fee. Please contact our Customer Service.

You could check the TLL fare against another destination (eg Riga) and that would give you an indication if there is a fare difference in addition to the THB4000.

For the dates I checked, the difference between business saver and full business was 3000THB outbound and 2000THB inbound - or somewhere in the region of AUD170 difference all up based on a return.

The full flex fare may be more suitable if you are considering changes?

Why not phone their Brisbane office or is it Sydney? Have forgotten. I just remember that their Australian office were most helpful. You can also buy an economy flight on daytime flight from BKK and Business return if that will help financially. Apparently they are not using their new planes so the seating configuration is 2-2-2 while the newer plane was 1-2-2. You can ask about plane type as well.

That's a good point - although i thought bkk was the new aircraft (and singapore the old)? Finnair upgrades to new lie-flat business class seat - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller.

Worth checking. I was looking at award availability the other day and QF suggested the flight via SIN.. which I thought was great until i realised the availability was probably there because of the old seating :(

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
