is there any simple way to do this?

travelling with a mate and we want our own beds, but don't want to sleep in singles. There seems to be some fairly relaxed use of 'twin' and 'double', and not much use of 'queen'. I'm talking specifically about SIN & HKG so appreciate hotel rooms are generally on the smaller scale here.

any suggestions, in particular for Singapore?

cheers

Short of combing through the room descriptions, the only suggestions might be to (a) look for a hotel room allowing an occupancy of 4 persons - that would probably default to some sort of larger double beds or (b) find a booking engine which allows you to specify bedding requirements.

Some hotels in Hong Kong can be fairly reasonably priced, maybe consider two rooms?

I have been looking for 2 queen bed hotel rooms in SIN and KUL as well but cannot find them. They are either 2 singles or a king.

I think serviced apartments may be a way to go. But they tend to not to be as good in terms of hotel services. Or 2 connecting rooms

I did a quick search on the forums on TripAdvisor for similar requests re double beds. Here's a couple of the suggestions that you could check as the most recent was 2013:

Swisotel Stamford - 2 double beds

The swissotel is a decent, well located hotel. Would recommend staying in this area in general as a tourist, so if it suits room and budget wise, I would recommend it. Haven't stayed here myself for some years as I prefer some others close by.

In Hong Kong a few years ago wanted to put the family in one room, Royal Plaza Hotel Hong Kong got my vote. It is in Mongkok rather than on the island but personally I like the more "local" feel and it is very near train.
