I had a win today - finally got ticketed on a reservation from MEL-NRT in October 2013. It's been a bit of a battle, with several long phone calls always ending in assurances that everything was OK and the e-ticket would arrive shortly by email. I still don't know what the problem was, or why I was never actually contacted if there was a problem that was causing these delays. After all the frustration however it is

In terms of advice for others, all I can say is that in the end the AA "Australian" call centre seemed to be able to sort it out after being directed to call there by the US call centre, although I left my phone call with them without any confidence until the e-ticket arrived in my email.

Sorry to hear that but good thing all are ok!
I myself had a nightmare with AA as I described on another thread. Ended up cancelling my trip...

I didn't think that AA coded this leg SYD-NRT as it doesn't show as an option as a AA flight number were you talking about a paid ticket or an award ticket, flown with QF flight number or AA code share with QF metal.

I have been looking at Aawards SYD-NRT and the flight comes up with the QF number.Could well be why the US call centre had problems.

It is a business class redemption booking, MEL-SYD on QF, SYD-NRT on QF, NRT-SYD on JL, SYD-MEL on QF. In all cases the flight number is of the operating airline (QF or JL). It was no problem getting the original reservation through the US call centre, just that ticketing was a drawn out process.
