You look like you’re getting great weather.

Facebook keeps reminding me of a trip there exactly this time of year 5 yrs ago. The weather was the best I ever experienced in Singas.
Not too bad but usually a storm rolls in late afternoon/early evening.

As we got back to the hotel it appeared that a wedding might be in progress.

Excuse my fat finger.
Time for a cold shower on return and a lie down. Up to the Gold Lounge. It was packed being a Saturday night. However enough food and the only thing they ran out of was the cheeses. 8 hot dishes, sushi, salads and mini sandwiches were certainly. It appeared all the newcomers were drinking spirits or coughtails.

A nice sleep in on Sunday morning. We decided to take it easy so after our last breakfast in the lounge I caught up with the TR.

Late check out at 2pm. Then got a taxi to the Voco. We certainly enjoyed the stay and hope that LE does another package soon. The staff everywhere were very friendly. The lounge was really good and the best on this trip. Hopefully sometime we will have another stay.

So to the Voco. We used to stay here way back when it was the Hilton and I a diamond. So at least 15 years ago. Checkin was excellent, loyalty noted and upgraded to club floor with lounge access.
The room is quite acceptable.

Now although we like the option of the bath and don't mind a shower over it this one fails.Immovable partition and handles that were difficult to move. Plus for me the Refillable amenities. Screams cheap.
A fruit platter was delivered.

The basics of the lounge haven't changed since we last got in.

But note there is no food out. You get served 1 plate of bites and no further are offered. As well after 2 wine refills they don't come back. So this lounge gets the wooden spoon.
The food.

That fruit bowl looks somewhat underwhelming, and yes, I hate those pump soaps etc!

We had been told that we could have breakfast in the lounge or restaurant. However in the morning the lounge was closed so down to the restaurant. Like all breakfast buffets it was a zoo but reasonable selection of items.

Unfortunately mrsdrron woke up with the beginnings of the Lurgi so a quiet day was in order. However after 1300 she felt a little better. Our original plan for today was to spend it in the Botanic Gardens so we headed that way. We got in sight of the entrance when she needed a rest so a convenient Starbucks and Frappacinos were in order.
Then strolled around the Tanglin Mall. Singapore certainly isn't cheap shopping now. A great supermarket is in the basement.

Well today it started to rain just before 1600 not long after we got back from our walk.
About an hour after it poured.

We waited an hour then went to the lounge. This was the night's offering.

So there is one guy sitting alone here in the lounge, plugged into his phone and drinking, we are about to leave and he gives the appearance he is plastered.

time to finish this off. a bit of a shambles at home with Covid and pouring rain. mrsdrron had a positive RAT on returning. mine is negative though. Officially I am now the servant

The last of the Voco. Virtually no one in the lounge apart from a german guy who probably was plastered when he entered. plus non stop coughing. Our room had not been serviced and we asked why. Turns out they only service them every 2 days. Voco orchids.

Alarm off at 0500. Quick showers and pack. A nice guy on the desk for check out with no problems. mrsdrron went outside and got a taxi straight away. It was now 0545. Definitely took us the long way to Changi. Probably cost us an extra $2 which i normally tip so he did not get his.

Although we both had an email on the day before that our DPD was not complete and mine had disappeared from my account we had no problems checking in. just wanted to see our vac certificate. just asked if we had done our DPD and took our word for it.

Straight to the lounge. Again pretty busy but got a pair of comfortable seats straight away and had some breakfast. it certainly wasn't all serenity with a few screaming toddlers. One kept going constantly for over an hour.
Left a little early as our flight was switched to a gate in terminal 1. The Skytrain was packed. Nearly all of them for our flight.

As well there was total chaos at the gate. hopelessly disorganised with a couple of agents continually switching the way you lined up or going from 2 lanes to one and then back again meaning lots of folk upgrading themselves in the queue. No priority line as there was when we left for BKK a week earlier.
The situation was made worse by about 50 elderly Sikhs being first in the queue. each had at least 2 coats on. They had to be told to take them off. For each coat they emptied the pockets of the coat. You would think after the first coat came off they would know what to do but no they had to be told for each coat to take it off.

Then the agents were the exact opposite to those a week before. told him about my knee so had to take watch, belt and shoes off. Mrsdrron had a bottle of water which she handed over to the agent supervising the line. he told her to put it back in her case. Naturally she was then pulled aside for her case to be searched and the bottle taken out.

The plane departed late for "technical" reasons. Everyone knew it was because there were still people waiting to get through security.
