Interesting

I wonder if this is been delayed.

The SPG website is still taking website reservations for the Four Points into next year and the Hyatt website still doesn't list it as even coming soon.

Have been wondering the same, I asked Hyatt diamond line and they had no idea when it would be available for booking, was hoping for a christmas stay!

I just rung my TA to make a booking and she wasn't even aware and booked under SPG branding.

She seems to think that you will just wake up on the 1 Dec and be staying at a Hyatt.

She took my SPG number out of the booking and I will add the Hyatt one once they have rebranded.

I just checked the hotels website and it warns you that they are changing on the 30th so I think maybe you can't book via Hyatt until 1 Dec?

Annoying as I would have liked to book via the app.

The rates I'm seeing (on the SPG website) for after 1 December strike me as very high for a Regency. I would have thought there'd be some agreement whereby Hyatt would be determining the rates from its takeover but I hope that's not the case.

What rates are you seeing? I booked for $231 a night for mid dec.

However I have never booked at a Regency before. But thats a good rate for Syd I think!

Nothing wrong with that price. The random dates in December I looked were above $350.

I've spoken with Hyatt Aus and they've told me that the Regency Club should be open definitely on the 1st December and despite it still not being bookable on the Hyatt site, the changeover date is still definite.

Of course if the Club is not open then Diamonds get 2500 point bonus ... that can be worth over $100 ...

Yes, as i said the SPG site warned you that they were changing hands

Dear penegal.

Thank you for your email.

We do not begin management of the property until December1, and this includes all operations such as room reservations. Therefore you will need to book through the Four Points Sydney website first, and we will honour the rate that is offered to you. Your Gold Passport membership cannot be acknowledged until December 1 2016.

We look forward to welcoming you to the new Hyatt Regency Sydney!

Kind Regards,

Why not ask?

The question was When will the new Hyatt Regency Sydney start taking bookings online and via the app?

They are popping this up on the site per Ozgirl's post.

[h=4]Leaving Starwood on December 1, 2016[/h]The Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Darling Harbour will be leaving the Starwood system on December 1, 2016. Reservations for dates on or after December 1, 2016, will not be eligible for Starwood Preferred Guest membership benefits

Yes, as i said the SPG site warned you that they were changing hands

I am tempted to make a booking over Xmas using Z3R which works out to ~$180/night. But I can't be certain that a DSU will put you into a Harbour View Maritim suite or not. I note on the spg site that this is the only suite type for booking, however the Flyertalk thread for this property has recent posts suggesting several other suite types including some with 'city' views only.

In either case, I don't think Hyatt will have any opening special offers come Dec 1st and the Z3R rate will be hard to beat when the new Hyatt rates are loaded. Uncertain any corporate rates will be loaded immediately either. We also don't know which award category this property will land at (or do we) so a P+C rate may still be viable.

Short answer is I don't know.

I expect the hotel will firmly be targeting the corporate market, but not sure when rates will be negotiated or available. Both SPG and Hyatt are on our "preferred" list, so I expect we will have a rate early on, but not sure what said rate will be.

In any case PHS is still very much my "preferred" place to stay in Sydney, and SoTP is my second.

But with sharper pricing and downward pressure on costs, HRS could do well out of me. I basically refuse to stay at the Hilton Sydney.

The website is still very much a WIP. Some interesting observations though:

- Accepting reservations from December 27th, not December 1st per the SPG site and PR material floating around. Maybe it will be re-branded to another chain in between ?? :)
- Rooms and rates are not fully loaded yet. There's only a Club Room available at inflated rates. Nor corporate rates available yet. No Award availability loaded yet either. I will keep an eye out leading up to December 1st.
- The aerial shot is not encouraging for December 1st Club Lounge opening if it was taken recently.
- The Four Points Maritime Suite is called the Hyatt Regency Suite King, as I expected/hoped. Confident this will be positioned as the DSU room category - TBC.
- Hyatt seem to have introduced an Executive Suite King (in the pictures section). It does not appear to have a balcony so I assume this will be reside in the new tower.

The Maritime Suite is actually a studio.

The new hotel looks pretty (I've only driven past) but it's still above the Western Distributor so when you step out on any balcony you have a major motorway directly below you.

I hope Hyatt introduces valet. The system of taking your bags out then having to drive around the block to the carpark across the road was ridiculous.
