FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

Not sure if this question has been asked before. As a Citiprestige card holder, we get to have gold status with Hilton and Shangrila. So if we book through Citi Concierge to take the benefit of the 4th night free, do we still get the benefits of the gold status if we book Hilton or Shangrila? Lucky in OMAAT says yes, but that is American Citiprestige which is completely different.

Yes VAG - Did avail Gold benefits with Hilton during my two recent stay in KL. However, both were booked online.

What happened is that Citi Concierge will take your details (assuming you are an existing member) and upgrade you to Gold Status. If you are not a HH member, they will ask you to enrol in their membership which will then be upgraded to Gold. This will take 2 weeks. All in all, you will avail Gold status and associated perks from then on - both when you book online and through Concierge.

my partner recently tried and was turned down. was told the only way to get points was if a new line of credit was opened - i.e. keeping the signature and opening a prestige account. we went through our RM at citigold who also had no success - he did however admit they have little influence on card services

Has anyone had success getting any sign-on type bonus points when upgrading from Sig to Prestige?

It depends what the Citi travel service is classified as. Are they an OTA or is books through GDS?

Hilton benefits extend to GDS bookings but do not to OTA reservations.

Shangri-la I'm not 100% positive however my dealings with Shangri la corporate suggest a culture of being anti-3rd party booking agents.

Generally speaking booking direct will always be cheaper one way or another so long as you follow a few basic fundamentals rules.

sorry guys for the very noob question.

I want to email concierge, but for the life of me can't figure out what the email is. When I go back to my signup emails from Citi I get directed to this link Contact Us | Citibank Australia where there is an email contact form. There is no obvious 'concierge' option.

Please be nice hahahaha

has anyone transferred to hilton since they became a partner? looking at transferring over approx 400k points for a conrad stay so want to be sure all is good before thinking about the lost SQ opportunity!

I was considering it but when I checked out some of the redemption rates on the hotels I was interested in, it didn't seem good value. YMMV.

Yes, transferred from KF for stay in Double Tree KL. Amazing value as I had to book 3 rooms for family

thanks both - guess i'll go ahead then.

380k for a 5 night stay at conrad maldives (stay 5 pay 4). i'd never even dream of paying the rack rate of USD$1k/night, but on points it works for me.

Not tried it, but personally those points could get better c/p value elsewhere. If you have more than enough or its a dream destination then it's whatever floats your boat, but beware the CM will cost you plenty when you are there. Also, depending on when you are going, base room can be had for around 600USD a night++

don't disagree. but it's the honeymoon. got SQ F/R booked from JFK (points also sourced from citi). nights we want are at the $1k level - March next year.

Best value point redemption in the Maldvies is the PH, at 25k Hyatt points.

You could consider some sort of point exchange (e.g. at FT). E.g. At 50k SQ to 25k Hyatt the 5 nights would cost you 250k points vs 380k.

Cruiserette received a Statement Credit of A$634.39 overnight into her Prestige Cardn being the credit for 1 nights stay at Grand Hotel Bordeaux as part of the Citi 'Stay 4 / Pay 3' promo for stay late June this year - nightly rate obtained by Citi was ~= to best nightly rate for same room type that I could get booking online direct with hotel - kinda makes annual fee pale if you do pay one.

We have 2 back to back 5 night bookings - one hers / other mine - at Double-Six in Seminyak over XMAS - US$406/nt on same 'Stay 4 / Pay 3' promos - great deals if you take time to secure them.
