I've got the option to use ff miles to book business flights mel-syd-nadi-lax
Any thoughts-
Even though we are not flying until next September I am under the impression that getting direct flights in business using points (miles) is near to impossible - so what do you think of this routing?
It's only a three hour layover in Nadi
thanks for any opinions

Fiji Airways is supposed to be relatively 'ok'. Nothing stunning in terms of food and beverage, but new planes with an angled business class bed (similar to the regional singapore airlines A330 seats).

There are a couple of trip reports on the new Fiji Airways business class - you can google those (just make sure you get the new ones, not the old 747 ones as the product has substantially changed since then).

Friend took this flight a few years ago... the Nadi transit is ok... all straight forward. The lounge is basic but does the job.

Thank you for replying.
Probably I feel more anxious that we need to take three flights and must be in Los Angeles by the 10th-these three flights which include two Fiji Airways flights leave Melbourne on the 9th.

Maybe a little too worrysome?

I don't think there have been any major issues with Fiji Airways schedule wise in terms of reliability. They seem to have their fleet utilisation pretty well sorted, although if there was a mechanical issue, your options from Fiji will be fairly limited (or non existent).

Yes that's right. Being caught up in fiji would be very stressful. Especially as we are due to board a cruise in LA the following day...
So after a week of to-ing and fro-ing in my mind I've decided to take a more direct route.

I'll leave the Fiji route for a time when I'm mire relaxed

Now to try to find direct business flights using miles....

We flew SYD-NAN return with FJ last year for a family holiday - the lounge was pretty tired but adequate. I wonder if it's been given a makeover with the airport renovations??
