As posted previously, I need to be in BUF and ALB next June for a conference.

For medical reasons I need ro fly J.

The only award flights I can ex melb are Fiji airways to lax

What is their J service like?

Safety record?

Cheers.

Sorry,

Forgot to add.

Is it possible to change my assigned seats, since I can't select them?

Sorry, needed to book that real fast.

Good advice offshore171.

Presumably as business class traveller, I have access to the Qantas intl business lounge in Mel, whatever lounge in Fiji ?

Should be able to Select seat by using your Booking Ref on the Fiji Air site

Yes, access to QF Business Class lounge in MEL, and FJ in Nadi

If you have A350 all the way, should be pretty comfortable

737 to NAN
A350 to LAX

5 HRS in a 737, but meh, a good 10 hours aboard a 350. I'm pleased.

My QF points balance is now 0
Well done. There are A350s serving MEL-NAN on Fridays and Mondays I think (you can change within 24 hours of booking for free if there's availability).

I've got YVR-NAN-MEL coming up in J in January. FJ's product looks to be pretty top notch on the A350 - wine list aside - and I'm hoping for a decent night's rest. Will be trying their Y to SFO in April (as it was cheaper over all to book a return leg in Y than a one way flight from YVR), but I snagged 52K which (along with 52A) is the Y window seat on the A350 that has unlimited leg room and direct aisle access.

Well Done!

Unfortunately this was the only award flight from MEL-LAX from mid June, which is when I need to depart.

I'm wondering which seat I should go with from NAN-LAX?

I've caught 2 or 3 ultra stunning views of sprawling LA on arrival sitting on the left side of the aircraft.

I usually pick left side if available regardless.

I've gone with 15A as can be seen below.

What's the gap in the middle of rows 12-15?

Does anyone know?

Cheers.

I think the gap is just due to unlucky numbers being removed, a few airlines do it.

Given that these were ex-Hainan/Hong Kong Airlines, that would make sense.

...
I've gone for 15K myself on my flights.

Right, I've got a bit of a query regarding the arrival time of this Fiji airways flight FJ810 NAN-LAX (Flight I booked this morning).

It arrives at 1255PM. Strange.

I need to make it to BUF, and a 1255 arrival doesn't make for a timely tfr at LAX (from TBIT to T3 - AA) for example. Last year I got into LAX at 2100-2130 ish on a delayed QF93, and JUST made it onto my 2330 red-eye to Boston. They were literally closing the gate.

In fact, I'm looking at a wasted day , (which isn't the biggest deal), but I would strongly prefer this not to be the case.

Just looking at AA, there are flights to BUF (via PHL, CLT or ORD)frequently departing from early morning until 1356.
Then there's no departures until 1740, which stops in ORD and no onwards connection until 0815 the following morning.

One hour is simply nowhere near enough time to make this tfr.

That's a hard NO.

I DID just have a chat to my buddy in BUF who tells me that the airlines haven't released their summer timetables yet, and extra flights are put on, (between hubs at the very least). I have read about this in another thread also.

Is there any truth to this , or is it looking likely that I may have to hit Santa Monica beach for the afternoon and return to LAX later in the evening for a red-eye?

Or fly to PHL and spend a night in a hotel?

Seems so stupid!

As I loath red-eyes, I'd plan to spend the day out of the airport, stay at an airport hotel and book a refundable flight the next morning (but probably same evening for you), and if extra flights are put on in the afternoon, book one of them and cancel the other.

Airports like BUF are considered regional airports and can often be hard to get to from the other side of the continent without an intermediate stop or two.

Im not sure PHL is a solution either because there is only one AA flight into PHL which does not turn it into a red eye at 1500hrs. If you miss that due to delayed arrival of F,J you then have to get the redeye arriving into PHL at 0700 the next morning.

You might as well do the redeye Jetblue non stop which departs from LAX at 22xx hrs and save yourself the hotel bill.
