Hi Guys,

Just a quick one - we are going to be heading over to Nadi soon; booked through Qantas and issued on a QF ticket but Fiji Airways metal - can I use the Qantas check in at T1 (as QF flight number) or do you have to use Fiji Airways desk?

And presume as QF ticket i can access the Flounge and usual WP privileges?

Never headed over to Fiji before or on Fiji airways so any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks
M

You need to check in at the FJ counter.
Yes, you "should" have access to the First lounge on any QF coded flight

As already answered above, you need to check in at the Fiji Airways counter.
As a QF WP you should be able to use the Business counter for check in, not sure about Gold - thought you could but was told no when I tried in July but on the return at Nadi Gold and Platinum can use the Business counter - bit confusing.

Keep a print out of your itineary showing the QF code share.
When checking in you will most likely get a boarding pass with the FJ code on it.
When entering the lounge they will check to see if you have access (QF booking only) but it always pays to have "proof" if needed.

At Nadi airport you will also have lounge access but there is no family rule, only 1 guest per SG / WP card holder.

Enjoy your trip, I love it over there out on the Islands - planning to return in April and then July again to try snorkelling with the Mantarays - missed them this year by a few days :(

As FJ is the operator, you check in with them.
An analogy here: I had booked LA from AKL back to SYD about a year and a half back.
Had a QF number, and all, went to the QF desk at AKL airport, and was told to check in with the operator, ie, in my case, LA.
Do have a look online and see if for FJ, you can do OLCI. You will still have to present your passports to have the data page bottom scanned onto FJ's system, but having done OLCI, (if possible), you just have to tell them you have already checked in, and gotten the seats you want, they just then have to print out the BP.
Edit: ah, no OLCI for FJ?/!

Your flights may be booked via QF, be on QF 081 ticket stock however the clincher for lounge access is that the flight must be booked as a QF flight number.

If it's a commercial ticket (not an award) then it's likely you're booked under a QF codeshare flight number.

Like others have said if your flight is FJ metal then go to FJ checkin as it will probably be Menzies that do the checkin so QF wouldn't even have access to the FJ checkin system.

Your boarding pass and bag tags will still reflect the operating carrier's flight eg FJ911 however they will be a comment printed on the boarding pass saying 'sold as QF391' which proves that your flight was sold as QF. This is what the lounge will look at.

One instance where I don't think it's possible to book a QF codeshare is when you do a partner award SYD/NAN as I think redemption are always booked as FJxx_.

Thanks very much for the info everyone.

Not too concerned about check in, I am sure that will be easy. And I will take a copy of the Qantas booking with the QF flight numbers on, hopefully the tickets show 'sold as QF..." anyway as stated above which should alleviate any Flounge issues - a fabulous brunch is my main aim for a couple of hours prior, all part of the enjoyment of the flight.

Thanks mrfreeze as well for the info on Fiji, it sounds great and just what we are looking for as a short, relaxing break. (Big trip later this year!)

I flew FJ this time last year on a QF code share, Perth- Brisbane - Nadi.

Checked in FJ business counter and used the QF lounge.

Return leg flew Nadi to Sydney.

Priority passes for security are available but on our flight didn't really need it to avoid queues as it was first flight of the day.

FJ lounge in Nadi is small and tucked away on ground floor, behind the escalator.

If you purchase duty free at Nadi, they will give you them as you board on the aircraft

Nadi is like a regional airport in Aus, so don't expect a lot.

FJ crew are the happiest crews I have come across

Only downside to flying them on our flights was small screens and ordinary food

Bulla ..... is the word to learn

Snorkeling is poor in and around Nadi

Cant wait for our return trip... but it is a long way from Perth :-(
