"Fiji Airways is adding a direct flight between Sydney and Suva, the island-nation's capital city, next year."

Fiji Airways to launch direct Sydney-Suva flights - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller

Fiji Airways is also in talks with Qantas to "enhance" (!) their partnership to a codeshare but has zero interest in joining any of The Big Three alliances.

Fiji Airways: yes to Qantas codeshare but no to Star Alliance, SkyTeam, oneworld - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller

I'd imagine thanks to their location between Australia and the US they'd be of benefit to any of the big 3.

I've not heard great things about Suva, but can't see why Qantas wouldn't be keen to codeshare.

Suva being the (business) capital this flight no doubt aimed at that market rather than tourists.

I assume they'll be using one of the 737s now the 330s have all arrived?

I'd also have thought a QF codeshare was "low risk" for Qantas. So they'll probably deploy Jetstar on the route ......

It's actually a return of the SYD-SUV flights. I've caught them a few times in the past. They're great if you have to be in Suva because it's either a long drive from NAN or a (sometimes "interesting") domestic connection. It for sure will be a 737 service - I doubt if Suva's runway can handle larger aircraft (except perhaps in an emergency). Not a great airport, comfort wise, but quick and easy migration and customs.

Nadi is OK (Denarau is not bad) but Suva is a dump :!:
Suva is however much closer to where we go for holidays so it is certainly worth a look as an option.
I hope the departure time is reasonable though.

Is there a lounge? :p

QF already codeshares on all Aus-NAN services, NAN-HNL, NAN-LAX, and NAN-AKL. What additional codeshares could they be talking?
