Ah it didn't take 60 days, just received email with a letter from Fiji Airways for the travel insurance purpose. Very brief letter just confirming the original flight time and rescheduled time, due to operational reason. Hope it's enough for the travel insurance.

Unfortunately, just minutes after receiving this email, got another email saying that the flight have been further rescheduled to 3 pm......Now looks like I've to get another letter. And arriving bne really cutting it close to catch the connecting to ntl that I newly bought.

At this rate you might be better off hiring a car and belting it to Newcastle. :p

Or, flying to Sydney and doing likewise.

I have been flying internally in Fiji a fair bit over the last 12 months on the Fiji Airways domestic service ......... firstly Sun Pacific but it has recently rebranded to Fiji Link (ATR500 / De Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otters fleet)

The 'reschedules' on those services occur that often you should work on that being the absolute 'norm'. The killer for those service though is they often link into connecting flights on even smaller region carriers such as Northern Air (think Britten Norman Islanders) Miss those connections and your going nowhere for at least one or in some cases two days.

But don't for one minute expect a few days notice of schedule changes...........If you flight is early in the morning start checking you 'in box' about 9pm the night before for the advice that gives you chance to rework things.

Fiji Perfectly dis-organised one day ........ blissfully dis-organised the next .......... Factor it into the budgets,

They now have two ATR 72s in the fleet to replace the other ATRs.

Just boarded the flight. Check in and immigration were smooth. Here's hoping arrive in Brisbane on time.

After multiple emails to Fiji Airway, and receiving multiple letters with error (name, then wrong flight time, then wrong flight number), I called up and finally got a correct letter. Sent in the letter together with the new flight ticket I have bought from BNE to NTL to the travel insurance company. Also put in a claim for taxi as the flight arrived too late for taking a bus. Got an answer from the travel insurance company today. They will reimburse the new flight ticket ($140) but not the taxi. Better than nothing.

Lesson learnt:
1. Travel insurance can be useful.
2. Get flight with one PNR if not much more expensive.
3. Always have leeway for international flight connection.

That is good news, those are wise points you have mentioned, and I am sure we have all experienced something like this at least once :)

Just out of curiosity which Travel Insurance company did you go with?

We were under Accident & Health International who is the underwriter for Avant Mutual. Paid $220/year.

Yeah I think so. We did not buy it directly from AHI but via Avant Mutual.

Yes just noticed that - the link I posted won't open the PDS because this needs to be done via a broker. Sorry about that folks. Will check out Avant Mutual tomorrow.
