FF Booking on Jetstar to coughet

Hi all,

I have been reading this forum for a while with interest. Over time I have managed to accumulate a decent amount of FF points on QFF. Finally I have booked some flights for my girlfriend and I to coughet. The flight are listed as QF393 and QF394. What does this entitle us to on the filight?

I seem to recall reading on here (but unable to find again) that since it is a FF booking and the flight numbers are QFs then we are entitled to food, drinks and entertainment as part of the package. Is this correct? If so how do we ensure that we get this "special" treatment?

Any tips on making this as smooth as possible would be great. We dont get to holiday as much and this is the first one we have taken in 2 years. Tried to go via Singapore flying Business but no luck there in the time window we had to had to do the JetStar thing .

Amazing what you can find on Google. Did another search and somehow got to the Qantas Industry Sales Site and eventually found this:

International Long Haul Services


Two inflight meal services (one for a shorter flight to DPS) are provided for commercial Qantas codeshare customers as well as all non-alcoholic beverages. Alcoholic beverages are available for purchase.

Each passenger is also provided with a complimentary bottle of water. Any additional refreshments and drinks are available for purchase.

Qantas codeshare customers are also provided with a headset for viewing the overhead video screen and audio as well as a complimentary blanket however, Qantas codeshare passengers are not provided with the whole comfort pack.

So, if I read this correctly as a QF listed flight (booked using FF) we are entitled to two meal services, drinks (non alcoholic), blanket and head set as part of the booking. Alcohol and anything else must be purchased.

Why not fly J class to BKK (or SIN or CGK) and then fly LCC (TR, AK, JQ, etc) to HKT?

Get much better service and wouldn't cost very much.

I'd give JQ the flick, personally.

FF J award to BKK, then ur own ticket to HKT would be the way to go. TG return in J costs only marginally more than Y on BKK-HKT, and would allow interlining to ur long haul segment if you aren't stopping in BKK both ways.

Your special treatment will be documented on printouts the FA’s have, as well as your boarding passes (ensure this at check-in). Stay in your allocated seat, and you won’t even have to worry about alerting the crew to your on-board privileges.

Relax, enjoy it. Other than open wet bar, and maybe a 34” Y seat pitch via BKK on TG, JQi is going to be a pretty standard in flight experience for you, plus it’s point2point direct, much easier than a connection.

P.S. If the exit rows don’t appear as pre-allocated on the JQ website seat map, when you do a dummy Jetflex booking 24 hours before your flight, turn up @ T-3 hours and request them! And maybe ring JQ and see if you can pre-purchase a video unit for $20[per person return], if you need an entertaining distraction, don't know if this is possible on the QF codeshare, otherwise $12pp each way on board (if they don't sell out).

Easier, but is it nicer? Not my way of doing things.

For example, when I pay for my flights, I could fly SYD-LAX direct, but I choose to fly via SE Asia because I can get upgrades to C.

I agree, "nicer" not "easier". I see Point2Point as a strategy for the middle ground, Hub&Spoke for price &/or frill seekers!

P.S. I forgot to mention, in making the JQi journey smoother, if you do hire a video player, they can collect these more than an hour before landing, so use that knowledge when choosing a film by its length.

Sorry to bump this thread, but I can't edit my old post. I should have said, do a "dummy booking" 3 days before departure to check exit row is still free, I forgot the JQi seat maps go offline around 2 days before a departure.

Also, if you go into 'view you're booking' on the JQ website, you can select and change your seats on there. If the exit rows are unallocated, simply change them this way. Make sure you are earlier than T-2 as d15.in.oz mentioned though. We recently did this and changed our seats for the return flight from BKK. When we booked, they were blocked, but about two weeks out they were open and so we snapped them up. The seat 44K even has a power point at your feet so if you have you're US adaptor, you can plug in you're laptop and watch movies. Another saving of $12.

And, unfortunately, JQ has fixed this, so no more Exit row allocations online to Jet Saver passengers.

Yes, sorry about this, this was the case. It's intersting that QF or JQ can't pre-allocate seats for QF passengers and now JL passengers but that's another matter entirely.

Actually, I'm travelling on a the QF390 codeshare. I was able to get seat allocation by contacting JQ by telephone.

I could not get an exit row initially; however I called again in after reading the JetStar...best seating thread and was pre-allocated 44B.

Be vary careful plugging electronic equipment into the points located on the walls of the aircraft near the exit doors. They are designed for cleaning equipment and operate at 110V and something like 600 Hz. These are very different to the in-seat power provided by QF in business and first class that provide 110V at 60Hz. some power supplies may operate ok at 600Hz, but some will not and you could cause damage to your device as well as the power circuit.

The reason 600Hz is used on the aircraft is bacause the generator required less ferrous material than a lower frequency generator for the same power output. These circuits are provided directly from the aircraft's AC generation system, while the in-seat power in QF J and F is provided by means of an inverter operating form the aircraft's DC power system.

At least that is the case on Boeing aircraft and so I assume similar on Airbus.

Actually, I was treated like a JetSaver Passenger with my initial allocation. No exit row seats could be selected ("Ask at the Airport") and Row 28 was as far forward as I could get, even though I knew more forward rows were avialable by doing dummy bookings. It was the glitch that enabled me to call back days later and snaffle the exit row.
