Feeling the Cathay Pacific Love

Hmm, I just got back from PER-HKG-WUH / PVG-HKG-PER as a SG (I've recently been demoted) and didn't get a single greeting.
We got exit row seats PER-HKG, but found that all our default assigned seats (assigned by the system) were separate, even though my girlfriend and I were on the same booking. Strange. CX is one of my favourite airlines on the whole, but since dropping from WP to SG I pretty much no longer exist in terms of benefits. Oh well. I've been much luckier in getting upgrades / spare seats with AY.

I stay at the Sheraton Taipei which is SPG, novatel airport Taipei. And evergreen Taichung. All are acceptable hotels also evergreen is cheap with small lobby, but does the job.

Can I ask for hotel recommendation in Taiwan? Also, any special offers if anybody else knows of any, I travel in mid to late June 2014. I have AMEX platinum and have memberships with SPG, IHG, Accor etc. None of which I've put to any good use yet.

What are you going to Taiwan for? Looks like you miss the silly Computex pricing (I used to go every year). My favorite hotels have always been the Les Suites chain:

Taipei Hotels New Development: Les Suites Hotels in Taipei, Taiwan

IHG have very average properties in Taipei. The HIX is good for status runs as its near the airport, however the HI downtown is too far from anywhere. SPG have five properties, the Sheraton is old but well located (It was my preferred hotel before Les Suites when it was the Lai Lai), and has some interesting barber shops in the back alley ;). The Westin is very nice and not far from the famous Mongolian BBQ restaurant, if you can get a good rate grab it, the breakfast buffet is the best in the world I have experienced. The Four Points is new and I have not stayed there but location is OK. I have not experienced the Le Meridian or W hotels.

I dont have any comments on Accor, as I tend to avoid them given their so so attitude to frequent stayer programs.

Another data point.

Off to TPE this morning on CX, scored a bump to PE for the HKG leg and exit row for TPE leg. I'm QF WP and bought an el cheapo Y fare through the CX website during the new year's sale.

Although the flight is 35mins delayed..

OT: this website is one of the few able to be loaded in the QF F-lounge. Facebook, CX website, seatguru, among other blocked

Not really CX love per se, but I scored an Asia Miles points upgrade from Y+ to J. Nothing amazing about that I guess, except it is nice to have it confirmed instantly rather than relying on the lottery system of QF. That's one advantage Asia Miles seems to have over QF, although there are many other disadvantages.
