Ok outrageous self promotion but?

One has to feel sorry for the innocent bystanders, the tourists and the people who rely solely on tourism. Thailand did not need this to happen at such a difficult time. Tourism is likely to take another hit with many people deferring travel and some even not taking the risk of returning to Thailand again.

I am glad I have taken a break from travelling to Thailand....

My dumbass niece (Mrs! side I must add ) went to BKK 2 weeks ago and is still there trying to holiday...

Some people have no sense at all

It would appear the protests are over for the time being.

Gunmen attack Thai who led last year's protests

Associated Press said:
BANGKOK (AP) — The founder of the protest movement that shut down Bangkok's airports last year was shot and wounded in a possible assassination attempt Friday, just days after troops quelled rioting by a rival, anti-government group.

The government quickly moved to tighten security around Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, who said a state of emergency that was imposed Sunday in Bangkok would remain in place. Vehicles carrying Abhisit were attacked twice by red-shirted protesters before and during this week's riots.

The attack threatened to again escalate long-standing political tensions in Thailand, despite calls the day before for reconciliation from leaders on both sides of the conflict.
