Do you get into trouble for taking a 15 minute shower? Or is it a wet-up/soap-up/rinse-off like boarding school was in my Dickensian day with a boarding master overseeing proceedings ;-)?!

I think it's strictly time controlled water flow, but hopefully you get to stay on afterwards doing your hair and makeup (AKA taking selfies  )

Showers are timed at 5 minutes.
But you can stay as long as you need.
It is not hard to find Selfies of the EK Shower on the net. ;)

Anyway back to the subject.
EK A380 J window seats are the best J seats in the sky.

Yes the J window seat beds are much longer than the isle beds.

Something for you to look forward to in the A/K seat

(Footrest + Shoe storage) underneath the TV screen

(in 7K, you get access to 2x storage bins; in 9K, I think it was one IIRC with the way the seats are arranged)

(The bin is quite deep and wide)

BTW, the mini bar may be in the way of your elbow so if you are a right-handed person I'd probably choose the K seats; and the A seats (with mini bars on the right side) are more suited for left handers.

It is pretty much useless - the mini bar - as there are some cans of fruit juice / mineral water but they are all at cabin temp.

Thanks for your reply, "holding hands" isn't high on my need too list, however it is nice to sit next to swmbo to have a drink or food but for me a window is more important although I don't know why, over the ocean at 40000ft at night you don't get to see much. After looking at the seat layouts etc we have taken 16k and 18k

Do you know if EK holds certain areas of the cabin for their own IO/Plat or can a QF Vanilla WP select any J seat at the time of booking?

Don't know of any block offs.
Others may have more info.
Never had a problem getting a J window seat.
Always book EK via QF code shares.
It is a BIG J cabin.
Just a bit of F in the nose.
All the rest is J, unlike QF that backfill the upper deck with some Y and Y+ in the tail.

That was my experience (QF codeshare EK metals).

I logged on EK site and started from there.

No blocked seats were seen as I booked quite early.

No "Emerald City" equivalent for WPs !

Same for the mini bar in the F suites.
Room temp drinks.
Just ask for cold ones.
They will be replaced.

I experienced the same, entire cabins all open for me even when booking a J&F ticket 4 weeks out. I'm a QF WP and all done through QF MMB. It seems EK pax don't preselect their seats?

My last one way booking DXB>SYD was done via QF when in Dubai, 2 days out.
No probs getting 9A.
Heaps of other J windows as well.
Then the BP scanner blinked red at the gate and got 3A. :)
During the walk to the bar, the J cabin seemed to be 75% full.

I have done my bookings all on line, 2 months out. QF website, EK metal, QF flight number. I am only QF SG and every seat was and still is, available to me. Either no one else has reserved a seat or I am the only one on the flight

Hi there, I was wondering if some of the more experienced EK J flyers might be able to assist me with some seat selection advice. Myself and my three sons (12, 14 and 16) are flying SYD-DXB-LGW in March. A380 both legs in J. (The beloved will be in F in seat 2K).

SYD-DXB, I have managed to get 8J, 9K, 10J and 11K. I know the aisle seats are 9 inches shorter, but figure they will still be long enough for the 12 and 14 year olds, with myself and the 6ft-plus 16 yo in the longer window seats.

For the DXB-LGW leg, the furthest forward window seats I could find were 14K and 16K - with 15J and 17J for the two younger boys.

I have read on some posts that the food (and drink) service can be pretty slow in the this part of the cabin and was wondering if we would better choosing 7E and 7F, and 8D and 8G in the middle rows.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Me and my wife are on EK J on the 388 DXB-CDG first time flying EK J. Wondering what the best seats were for a couple ?

Cheers

I didn't get any replies :(, but 7E and D are now gone, so will stick with what we originally had - window, but mid-cabin.
