May i'm not so much worried about, 11 days time when i'll be there for ~2 weeks concerns me lol.

Fingers crossed.

Perhaps we should just start listing off the AFFer's who are not in the US in May... I've getting the feeling the list might be smaller...

i will be passing through Lax in transit on Mon 12th May... will have about 7 hours (1520-2210) to kill. May head to Santa Monica for an early dinner...anyone else around?i

My last earthquake was in Santa Monica and the previous one was in South Coast Plaza.
Keep away from all glass and if you are in a hotel you can get into the passageway and sit or go to the fire escape landing and sit away from the stairs. That is the procedure that we did for our Los Angeles emergency drill.
The concrete fire escape landing away from the stairs gives you fire protection as well.
I am quite relaxed about tremblers but that would change if it is an 8 point something quake.
The biggest one was a 6 point something so far and you have to watch out for falling ceiling panels and glass breaking.

That's the date we arrive. You coming from SYD or from somewhere else? If from SYD what flight are you on?

Edit: Ignore this post, I just noticed the times you'll be in LA, and for some reason the delete button isn't working for me...

I won't, but my folks will be there in May too. Alaska cruise on Silver shadow if anyone else is there.

All this talk out Earthquakes and there has been a 8.2 in Northern chile with a tsunami alert for a 2m wave:

I'm in LA/Vegas in October/November and Earthquakes had never even crossed my mind!

The only one I have experienced was a 5.4 in japan when I was there on school exchanged trip. 6 stories high with the school high up on a hill. Everything just swayed and rattled for about 5 seconds.

I'm another to add to the list. Transiting to SF to see friends on 16 May before heading to Vegas and then back through on the 25th on the way home.
