Looks like a uni assignment to me
also note JQ blocked access some time ago to a great comparison tool
called Farehunter.com.au.
Unlike Webjet and Fltcentre web site Farehunter showed best price by time of day.
I cant imagine JQ would let someone else set up a site like this
although I do know from friends in the industry all airlines scrape each others sites to keep an eye on prices and the availablility of those prices for competitive reasons

I like the graphical representation of lowest price history for a flight.

My opinion is, businesses can try to carry on with secretive marketing plans, and see the age of information as a threat… or they can adapt and profit!

Just tried it to search for a few flights CBR-MEL and it does not show prices for Qantaslink Dash 8 flights when i know they are operating. Only shows the Jet services

I would agree that it looks a bit like a Uni project, especially since it's not plastered with advertising.

I quite like it, even if it is a Uni project, so what? Lots of really useful software started out as a Uni project. Also, smaller sites maintained by one or two people are often much more agile, responding quickly to user requests for new features. It's only been around four weeks, so I think it will be interesting to see how it evolves.

Hi guys, I'm the developer of Farefetched

I've just noticed this thread here, and I'd love to get your feedback on some cool new tools I've recently added to FareFetched.com.au

I've added a dynamic internet calendar, so that you can subscribe and always have the latest prices in your calendar for any particular route.

Also, RSS feeds have been added for searches so that you can easily watch prices of airfares rising and falling, and work out the best time to buy..

Your feedback is appreciated, as well as any other ideas you think might be useful for finding airfares.

It'd be handy if a link could be provided with each fare that would take you directly to the airline's website with the fare details already entered and the fare visible and ready to be booked. Rather than a link to the airline's front page.

Thanks SeaWolf... yeah I'll put it on top of the FareFetched todo list..

I think I'll it will be best to link through to the search result page for the airlines however, in case prices have changed - our servers cache prices for up to 24 hours

Looks like an excellent improvement on airline search functionality.

The historical Lowest Fare History will take a while to fully comprehend how to act on that data. I hope that one day it will filter the results based on fare type ie retricted, business etc

Michael you could get lots of great feedback through this forum to build a truely customer oriented front end.

Thats exactly what I hope to do - the more input from users, the better and more relavent the website can get!

What I've got planned:
- add Rex and Skywest to search results
- add search for online travel agents also (webjet, flight center, sta, etc)
- 'deal finder' - calculate the best deals through past statistics of average low prices, so that you can instantly find the best deals for cities or routes
- international search
- return/multi-hop search
- airfare price predictions - i've got a few really good ideas on how to do this, it will just take a lot of time to implement properly


What features do you think I should focus on?
