Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

I haven't applied for one but the Embassy in Canberra told me to allow three weeks. That said, I've sent the same email to them several times over the past four or so weeks and still no reply. Customer service may not be high on their list of priorities.
A bit unfair methinks, before this all broke I was looking at going to Myanmar and all forums say that the Aussie Embasssy in Canberra is very helpful and the lady who does the visa (who is Australian incidently) extremely helpful. I found her very helpful on the phone and she did say they can process quicker if you have an urgent need but frankly I think all Myanmar embassies have been swamped recently!

Okay. Fair enough. Your experience has been quite different to mine. I will eventually need to go in to the Embassy in Canberra and try to get things sorted. My emails to their Embassy in London went unanswered and my email to their Embassy in Paris got anyone line reply and then no further response to my subsequent reply. (I'm going to be in both cities and as I need multiple visas I was trying to get information on getting them there. No help, unfortunately.)

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

When you guys find out, let me know.

I would like to get a Visa at the Bangkok consulate in a few days time but I don't have my flights to RGN (for October) booked yet. Guess I will go to the consulate in Canberra once I get back home. My exRGN flights are 24/10 I think to CDG ...... there for three weeks .... so hopefully can get another visa issued in Paris? prior to the return, otherwise I will just check through to BKK and discard the last leg.

Couldn't agree more with Burmans - the Australian lady who processes the visas was incredibly helpful when I got mine through the Canberra embassy in April. Via registered post, the entire process took around 20 days from posting to getting the passport back for me.

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

Found it sorry - took 20 days.
Mine was sent 16 days ago...

My visa arrived in today's post. :p So it took 18 days (including the day of posting).

A question if I may? Do you mean that you will tell them only to check you through to BKK or you will just disembark there? I ask because I have the same dilemma for my flight in December. I had come to the conclusion that I was going to need to have carry on so I could get off in SIN on the way home and that if I had checked luggage it would have to go to RGN. That if I tried to alter ticket to create a stop over in SIN (as I don't want the last leg), I would have some problems. But if I could get them to just check the luggage through to SIN, I could actually travel with more than carry on.

I flew CPH-LHR-BKK-RGN with BA to BKK then TG to RGN, since I was worried TG may not even let me board without a visa (applied for VOA), so I asked for my luggage to be checked through to BKK, no problem at all!

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

Sorry to bump folks :( but I have a cancellation query; Due to a possible change in plans does anyone know what the cancellation conditions are for these MI ex-RGN fares? Mine is a simple RGN-xSIN-CDG return. As much as I want to fly this, $715 return, I don't think my boss will be happy to let me take another three weeks off, given I've just returned from a 4 week RTW holiday, a 9 day Asia holiday in June and a three week trip to Europe earlier this year :(

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

From memory, I believe it was about US$100 for my similar itinerary to AMS.

Thanks, I couldn't see it anywhere in the emails they sent.

Sadly, I have now cancelled my RGN-CDG 24/10 - 06/11 booking :( Thanks GCS, it was a $100 cancellation fee. It would have been fun flying SQ J 388 but oh well, I can't take too much time off work and I am sure there will be a next time. I do have a KE F RGN-BKK-ICN-LAX booking for late Jan 2013 though.

I'm sure KE in F will be nice! I'm flying RGN-CDG on 21/12 so I can let you know what it's like ;)

Have a fantastic trip, I am sure envious! I haven't flown SQ 388 J so looking forward to your review of it :)

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

Somehow, somway, some of these ultra cheap fares have resurfaced, according to reports on Flyertalk.

I have also been able to find a fare, predominantly DL, ex RGN to YVR for less than GBP300. Happy to receive a PM for those who want details.

Thanks to Danger, I did book a flight under GBP300... however I then realised I'm already going to be on another trip!

Hopefully there won't be a cancellation fee involved. Unless I could get the J Miles for the RGN-NRT into my SQ account :D

Alanslegal, would they have allowed you to change the name on this ticket and offer to someone else, or extend it to another later date that you could travel rather than cancel???

Deal still going.

Yes true, expedia.au pricing plenty of date in May and June and return as well.
Although for how much longer I don't know as the east coast and central US will be waking up about now.
