This has probably been asked many times, but a search didn't yield anything.

Is there a way to view the exact fare class you are booked into during the booking process, clicked on all the visible links but to no avail.

Just want to ensure that fares purchased in the 'Sale' bracket are eligible for accrual (Trans Tasman, domestic, etc)

Discount Economy:

I'm pretty sure they are all the discount economy buckets Virgin use so your fare will accrue.

With DJ the only time I see the fare class is on the boarding pass, although a recent VA itinerary did show it for each sector.

On the VA booking web page, go through to the point where it wants you to pay, then view the source of the page (in firefox this is right click -> view page source). Within the first 2 dozen lines you will see this:

var fareFamily = 'X,R,Baggage';

Or something similar. The keyword here is "farefamily". The above was a sale fare out, standard saver fare return (X class then R class). I did the same dummy booking for business class and it returned 'J,J';

Goodness knows why Australian airlines don't make this stuff easy to find for their passengers. Everyone knows how important it is. Mostly the other airlines I frequent put this information right up front and prominently - or at the very least available, along with the whole fare basis in an obvious link.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
