I have always wanted to understand the maths and abbreviations in the fare calculation line:

NUC = Neutral units of construction http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neutral_unit_of_construction_(airlines)
ROE = rate of exchange
Fare basis code: IFX3ZSB1 (BusinessElite). I = booking class for miles/status

I gather NUC 4904.68 x ROE 1.03025 = cost of total airfare which is correct

Thank you but there seem to be 4 fares added to final fare however there are only 3 sectors on the fare.

also whats the xflax 4.5. Is it the airport at turnaround point? In this case lax ???

The Q is the surcharges ( fuel ) on top of the fare of NUC2098.77 each way

There were two fuelsurcharges, 2 x 353.57 as shown by the "Q SYDLAX353.57" and "Q353.57". One each direction for SYD-LAX and LAX-SYD.

FYI:
the X/MEL indicates that you were transiting in Melbourne but the fare is counted as a SYD-LAX and not charged for going via MEL; as MEL is a valid transit point where the fare doesn't need to be broken in to a domestic leg followed by the international leg.
