I have just received an E-ticket for an up coming trip for part of a conference and was looking at the Fare Basis.

I am flying CX PER-HKG and then onto KUL still on CX metal

The HKG-KUL is fare basis Y, which I guess is Economy, and I am hoping it is full economy so I can earn the economy rate in terms of SC's

The confusing part for me is the fare basis for the PER-HKG leg, which comes up as BLEE1Y. Can anyone decipher this for me in terms of what it stands for and SC earning rate for a QFF.

Your help is appreciated, and in time a trip report will follow;).

According to expertflyer, BLEE1Y books into the B bucket. So 0.5 miles and discount Y SC earn.

Just to add what Dave said, the first letter of the fare basis is not always the class, there is some Y**** fare basis that actually book into say L for example. I was thinking when i was just learning oh great i get full whY miles and SC only to realise that it was not the case :(
But most of the time it is the case, just watch out for the ones starting in Y.

Thanks for the heads up that the first letter of the Fare Basis is not always the fare bucket. On expert flyer how do you tell the Fare bucket from the Fare Basis?

Also I use YLFFA1. Does any one know what the FF and A1 are. I guess they have no official meaning and it is just a coding convention. But curious none the less.

Thanks guys.
The HKG-KUL fare basis shows as just Y, so I am hoping;)
I was expecting the BLEEY1 to be discount economy.

Only QANTAS Frequent Flyer treats booking class B as Discount Economy.
Both B & Y are Full Economy on AAdvantage.
