used 28 deg. went thru fine. took about 5 days to receive the email and points (for 40k + 16k bonus pts). However, for a small amount < US$200, they came through immediately.

Sorry folks, it appears to be all off.

I had my second application fail, and called them again. The very nice lady checked with supervisor, who checked with someone else and the answer: as of MARCH 1st, only US and Canadian credit cards accepted  (she thinks maybe Mexican too).

(Time to find your best US or Canadian friends and to rent their cards a bit :) )

very sad face.

RooFlyer - did you call AS or Points.com?

I called AS. But my 2 applications (with different Oz cards) via points.com on line both bounced, so it looks the case.

But if you can hold out some hope ....

(I'm in Nth America at the moment so can call easily)

Dang. And going via PayPal there's only the option to link a card (assume that won't work) - rather than the direct funds transfer method.

And my Qantas Cash mastercard DEBIT was bounced outright. Only had C$ loaded, and the charge was in US$ but its supposed to suck down other currencies (for a fee) if the 'native' currency isn't loaded, isn't it?

Time to get a drink and work on other strategies ...

I purchase US dividend miles through points.com no problem with an Australian Citi Bank card.

No success for us. Miles purchased on Sunday using ANZ Amex, emails this morning saying could not complete the transaction due to not been able to verify cc information. Have tried again using the suggested 'El Segundo' method, will see if it works or not...

I don't need to purchase any miles at the moment but I went through the process and said I wanted to use Paypal and logged into my account. It let me choose a credit card to fund the payment and all I had left to do was hit the pay now button. Did you get this far with PP?

I don't know if it makes any difference but I have had my PP account since it first started and my primary currency is still US dollars. It was going to process in AUD this time though.

The last time I used my HSBC Visa through points.com was back in February though.

Dale.

You can add an international address to your 28 Degree Card (ie. Use your US Shipping account address, if you have one). I have no idea whether this will work - just throwing it out there in case its helpful.

Ahhh, good idea, didn't think of trying to change the card's address, we have one of those myus.com delivery box addresses which might do if the other options don't work.

A few friends and myself all reg. in AS program with our Aussie details, used Aussie VISA or AMEX cards, all miles credited no problems.

I rang their customer support this morning about the issue, they have very recently (in the last few days or week) changed the ability to purchase points with the bonus. They now limit it to US, Canadian and he thought Mexico credit card holders (where the billing address for the cc is the same as address for the points purchase). Fraud problems were 'apparently' a reason for limiting the availability. Looks like you got in just in time Limewood.
