Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

Saw Neil Perry watching the lunch crowd at David Jones Food Hall buying his new sandwiches. Mrscove went for the lamb chops rather than his deal. The crowd was large for the $10 to about $14 fare so we stayed at the grill instead.

Speak of the devil!

[h=1]Neil Perry selling Rockpool and Spice Temple but remaining in business[/h]

Sydney chef and entrepreneur Neil Perry was down in the basement of David Jones’ Sydney food hall yesterday selling $14 sandwiches by the fist-full, his latest venture as a high-profile food consultant. But the man behind the Rockpool brand has bigger deals on his mind.
It’s understood a deal that will see most of the chef’s impressive empire of restaurants and food businesses purchased by Quadrant Private Equity, the company behind restaurant group Urban Purveyor Group, is as close as two weeks from signatures.

We prefer steaks at Ruth's Chris in California compared to Rockpool. Neil Perry still has the pony tail so he is easy to spot.
Some of his Qantas fare is a bit ordinary and we struggle a bit with the QF menu in business class on our domestic flights.

I struggle in economy too

Richard Wilkins in QF LAX F right now - I wouldn't know him if I fell over him - Cruiserette has got yapping to a lady who has a 13yo and 12yo daughters in Lounge - 13yo ensconced in those recliner / relaxing seats that face out to Lounge entry - 12yo off to toilet - RW sidles up to the only vacant relax seat not occupied - 13yo barks up 'You can't sit there that is my sisters seat' - RW skulks off and finds another seat.

Mother and Cruiserette convey story to me - mother says she is so embarrassed - kids have no idea who he is. Gotta love kids huh?

Classic. Do you go there often with 13yo's, I haven't managed to get a seat over there yet must be the little cruisers ! I always end up at the bar as a result.

I do believe he is CL.

I do believe he is CL.

I believe so too.

Richard Wilkins just walked into the BA Concorde Room at LHR. He said to the lounge host "Are Qantas Chairmans Lounge members allowed in here?" I didn't hear the response from the host but within a second he was in. I'm quite surprised CL members are allowed in the Concorde Room.

Now some more. There was a very minor argument/disagreement with another BA agent (probably more senior). All I heard was "The problem with Emirates is . . ." It sounds to me as though some kind of an exception was made. He then escorted in a young man, presumably his son.

Today I flew from DFW-SAT on AA and noticed a Vietnam Veteran walking past me. He had a flat cap on mentioning Vietnam with a heap of decoration ribbons,

Just before take off the Captain made an announcement welcoming Medal of Honor recipient MAJGEN Patrick Brady on board and in that unique American way thanking him for his service. All of the passengers and crew applauded.

We thank Major General Brady for his heroic service to his country, indeed. San Antonio is a big military town also, with several military bases and a number of backroom support operations. I took a DFW-SAT once, and 30 people in full uniform boarded the flight as well.

Also, you're 80 miles down the road from me! :)

Saw a goose with an accent like Bryan Brown's flying Air NZ to LAX... oh maybe that was just an ad.

I've not mentioned it before, but I do remember seeing Max Walker in the Adelaide QF lounge many years ago. RIP Maxy :(

We had Max Walker and his wife sit next to us in VA J from MEL-MCY only back in April this year - it was just them and us in the J cabin. The whole flight I resisted the urge to strike up a conversation, from what I've read about him since I don't think he would have minded in the least - one of my big regrets. He was smiling throughout the flight and very friendly and polite with the staff which again backs up what I've heard his contemporaries say. RIP Max

Had a fun one yesterday.... flew Virgin domestically from Melbourne and since we had some time I thought we would just go to the lounge. Got there and hubby was all ecstatic!! He was like a kid in a toy store :D He said to me "Oh, oh... look over there!! Thats Barry!!! You know, Barry from The Living Room at Channel 10!!" Completely beside himself... :D I was more like "Barry, who??"
Think it has something to with interest in home renovations :)

Dont know if that counts as a famous person, but then again, it depends on who you ask apparently ;)
