Should you be embarrassed? Here on AFF? No. Anywhere else? Yep. :)
That's so true, my family do give me a hard time on my "obsession" but on AFF's it noraml, in fact have a look at FT and you'll think maybe you need to investigate all these other schemes!

I'm sure they enjoy the benefits of elite status!

My partner thinks Im crazy doing status runs and the like. He certainly doesnt complain when we're enjoying free F&B in the Lounge then head through priority boarding to our Row 3 seats.

I have to say that I am a little embarrassed on the way that I manage all the families SC's and points. I run a simple spreadsheet with some "if statements" and multiple worksheets. I also have dates as well a a separate worksheet that tells me when to change the family pooling and to whom.

Ummm..... I've got 2 spreadsheets on the go atm. Sector/SC/$$ and USDM purchases

I feel much better now that I've said that out loud.

I'm unsure whether you have too much time on your hands, or whether you should apply to VA to be their IT guru or whether I should plead with you to put that up for download in the "spreadsheet".

What a great tool. Well done.

I wouldn't be embarrassed, you have managed to maintain status without having to do status runs by automating your forward planning of SC movements.

Thanks for this... maybe I do have too much time on my hands however my daughter who is a Platinum thinks I have more friends on AFF than I do in real life.... Hang on AFF is real life. This is the same daughter that complains when she doesn't get row 3 and thinks AFF is an obsession that will one day turn into an addiction. I think it is past that point already. As you can see by the number of posts I have done I am not as prolific as some out there. Having said that I have only really been active in the last 12 months or so.

As for being an IT guru, I sell garden sheds for a living so I am so far remote from that it is not funny. ( however I am responsible for our national and international sales so hence my travel)

My spreadsheet is not rocket science ... I will see if I can post an example.:)

I think maybe you were lucky.

We called with all of the information, but the (very nice, polite, and friendly-sounding) Velocity Gold support person said that she was unable to do anything about it, and MrsPooky would need to send a copy of the boarding pass or Virgin-sent itinerary email for the flight to the retro@... address, which could take up to 14 days to process, etc.

I assume the points and SCs will come through eventually once we've done that, but still I was a little disappointed that she couldn't help out on the phone, since we had all of the information they'll get from the itinerary email.

To update, the pooled points and SCs finally came through on the 8th of April, for a 20th February flight. It's lucky I wasn't hanging out for them for status or anything!

Something else was strange, though: the BNE -> ADL flight gave 845 points, but ADL -> BNE (1st March) gave 775 points. I thought points were awarded based on Great Circle distance, and I'm pretty sure neither BNE nor ADL moved in late February. Did points awards decrease during this time, or did the system just make an error in our favour this time?

mrpooky.

For domestic flights VA still uses "five points per dollar" as the basis for points earn. So the BNE-ADL fare might have been $14 more than the ADL-BNE fare?

Aha, that makes sense. Thank you.

Yes, and no.

I've noticed if two flights of different values are on the same PNR, then they just simply add the two together and divide the total by two so the points awarded are identical but combined tally up to the correct amount...........

(I must admit I only just noticed this quirk this week so I'm not sure if this was a one off, or it's new, or it has always been done like this?????)
