Facial Recognition at SYD

Hi,

Does anybody know what flights QF are trialing this on.

Im departing on QF3 to HNL early next month.

Would be interested to know if anyone has used it and whether they can give a rundown on how hard/simple it is

I would imagine they are offering the trial to very frequent flyers... P1 grade perhaps!

[Strategic Aviation]

SYD trial to commence in mid to late 2018 in partnership with Qantas. The trial is expected to initially cover three off-peak flights a day, and the contactless features will be rolled out incrementally. Gate 25 will be the contactless self-boarding gate and registered participants should be able to use the contactless technology on return to Australia. There will also be some level of integration with Qantas lounge facilities to "personalise" the offering (and perhaps track who is in the lounge?).

They better not replace Nestor with a camera.

Seems the cameras are still rolling, even though the trial ended and the operators are not being transparent.

Sydney Airport is continuing its facial recognition trials

But says system isn’t capturing images without passengers' consent.
