Hi boys and girls,

Does anyone know whether we can access BA F Lounge in JNB when arriving with QF and continuing on a domestic BA flight to CPT?

It seems that the connecting BA departs from the 'domestic' terminal but there seems to be a walkway between the buildings. Was thinking if we can bath for a couple of hours before heading to the other terminal.

It is actually all the same building - you exit after immigration and collecting your luggage and go upstairs to check in with Comair. You then go through a different security to access the domestic part. The Comair lounge is very nice - probably as nice as the BA F lounge which is nothing special. You have to pick up your luggage when you arrive in Johannesburg - it can't be checked through, so I couldn't see how you could then go to the lounge, but others might know better.

Thanks Mermaid for the info!
Do you know if they force us to go to immigration like in Aus after landing or can we access the int lounges before the immigration (like Aus domestic style)?

To be quite honest I have never noticed! Just sort of followed my nose until I got to Immigration and then collected my luggage and exited. We have always been travelling onto Durban so more focused on getting to my final destination. I assume there must be a separate track for transit passengers, so that you don't have to go through immigration and can access the lounge. It seemed pretty similar to the way Sydney international is set up with different areas for arrival and departure. Also BA dragons are pretty gung ho about access, so not sure if they would even let you in! However the major problem I see is that your luggage will be going round on the carousel without you and given the problems with stealing from luggage, I am not sure I would be happy with that. Then you would have to go back through immigration somehow and find your luggage. The queues in the late afternoon to get through domestic security can be quite long as well. How long do you have between flights?

We have approx 3.5 hours to spend there. Silly if they wont check the bags all the way to CPT from Sydney. It's Oneworld all the way anyway...

well that gives you plenty of time. It is like Australia - you have to clear immigration and customs in Sydney - I can't check my baggage to Canberra even if all on Qantas, I have to clear in Sydney then recheck. It is two years since I was in the Comair lounge but it was really nice with heaps of food not like a domestic Australian lounge. You can always go to the BA lounge on the way back to Australia - we did that last year :)

After you go through domestic security, there are lifts on the right that take you up to the lounges area - we got hopelessly lost the first time and took us ages to find them...
