Hi All. Next Feb I am flying PER-SIN in J and connecting to SIN-LHR in R. Just wondering if anyone knew if the PER check in desk is able to give you the boarding pass for the SIN-LHR leg? If so, given that there is no F out of PER, what boarding pass stock will it be printed on (I'm assuming J?)?

I'm interested to know if any fellow Perthians have done this trip and can comment?

Cheers,

JG

To the question of BP stock I am scratching my head.

The SQ J boarding pass is a custom colour (royal blue).

My R checkins were either in Melb or SIN where they had the correct stock (gold).

In 2010 I did one flight BNE in J connecting to F (747) to FRA but can't recall what they did. I'm thinking they must have had F boarding pass otherwise I would have remembered.

Hopefully someone will have more real world experience.

Did the flight 2 weeks ago. At Per initially given J boarding for Sin-Lhr. Asked about the F, he then reprinted it as F after looking for the correct pass. So you can get the correct pass! Although the layover was too short to get to the lounge in Sin.

PER check in certainly should have all BP stock - Gold for R / Maroon for F / Dark Blue For J / Green for Y.

SQ insist that correct stock is used to correctly align with cabin to be flown - indeed check in agents can get their klakkers toed if incorrect stock used - have experienced both where I was actually handed F BP instead R once and pointed it out to desk at entry to TPR and a couple occasions where check in agent has realised their mistake or I have pointed it out to them - SQ do really view this as quite a serious mistake if it occurs.

Thanks all for the informative replies! Much appreciated.

Yes we go out of Perth so it is the blue for business PER-SIN and the gold for Suites for the ongoing journey.. We are regulars to London and Los Angeles in Suites out of Singapore.

We did this trip in Feb 15, though we had a 2 day stop off in Singapore on the way so I can't really comment on the boarding pass. I think from reading other trip reports if you are given the 'wrong' boarding pass stock, the lounge people will reprint it for you on the gold.
We did find that Perth would honour the first class baggage amount by showing them our onward connection in Suites. (We are travelling for a year and had lots of 'stuff').
A fantastic journey that we will do in reverse Jan 16. Suites is a lovely experience ( and J is not too bad either).

Shoppermel you are correct in that Lounge staff will re-print incorrect BPs for you - but the check in agent will certainly hear about it - SQ are pedantic about this - the correct BP stock must be used at all times - all ports have stock - SQ in MEL have told me they never run out - rather stock is mislaid.

Shoppermel how cool is that F check in area in SIN? Cruiserette thinks that is the best part of any SQ exp she has ever had.

It is definitly the closest I will ever get to being treated like royalty. It was our once in a lifetime, spoil ourselves, mature age gap year. The hardest part will be going back to work.
