EY Upgrade Auction

I guess you need to read the first sentence of my second paragraph. Then you will find that I specifically said it wasn't an excuse.

Still, what if that persons 2 year old daughter was run over a month ago, they've just got back to work and they haven't been informed yet. Are they still incompetent or is there a gap in the system because of their circumstances? As I said it is not an excuse but it does explain why it is wrong to claim they are incompetent.

they really dont have their act together at all
my husband is an elite gold we are travelling in a few days he is on a J ticket and he hasnt even received the email to request the upgrade
I called the so called elite line and the girl had no idea what i was talking about.
when I asked for a supervisor she refused so I asked again and again and she said "listen to me"
' i said no you listen to me
get me a supervisor

she came back all coy and said that they only send emails if there is a possibility that a first seat will be available
she said there was no email in the booking
I said (DUH) his elite gold no is in there dont you have an email on that?

So if you hate it so much why bother flying with them? Plenty of airlines that would love your snobby business. If it was my business I would be saying ADIOS to rude customers like yourself.

grow up!
where did I say I hate Etihad!
I think you are trying to put words in my mouth
and Im sure any of the long time AFF members here who know me and have met me in person know that I am not "snobby"
I just happen to travel in F .
Secondly I expect people on the other end of the phone representing a company to know what they are talking about.
the woman was clueless and I dont take S==t.

For the record I have an EY flight tomorrow. I've received no upgrade email and certainly won't be ringing them and demanding why I haven't.
As I've previously mentioned it isn't guaranteed for any class or status

I just received the "Plusgrade" offer. I have a flight back from the UK in a couple of weeks. I have no status with Etihad, but am a Virgin Platinum.

To make an offer or not? I must admit it is tempting, I quite fancy the EY F suite.

You should give them the DYKWIA treatment.

What's the minimum bid? Or is that dependent on the class you're booked in.

Pretty sure there's a type of gage to show you your probability of success when you put an amount in.

not sure if you are referring to me
at no stage did I demand to know why i hadnt I simply asked why I hadnt.
at that stage though I did not know that it was only if seats were available as I had only heard a whiff of the whole auction thing as I was travelling on a ship for a month and had limited access to internet, so thought to short cut I would call and get first hand info on the situ.
I got demanding when the woman had no knowlegse of any auction or upgrade situation except when using points or paying full price.

Yep. I'm undecided as to whether to put a bid in on any of my legs.

This is the opening screen, with flight numbers removed to protect the innocent, I haven't moved the sliders yet. If I do and go higher than the amounts shown in the image the yellow bars turn to green when you get three or more, or red if you drop back to one.

No in fact I wasn't referring to you and this thread is not about you either. ...<redacted>

If one always travels in F then why would an upgrade be relevant?

I think they were enquiring for someone else.

Yes agreed, however this "someone else" is her husband and she only travels in F yet expects her husband to fly in J unless the poor bugger happens to be lucky enough to score an upgrade, an upgrade she is prepared to go to war with airline staff for..... Makes little sense to me in particular when she claims not to be a snob.

But then again what would i know, i simply book two like tickets for my wife and I when we travel together.

Sounds like you are a little jealous:D:D

The only grievance I have is that in posting the points to Virgin I have been credited with 0 tier points and 0 miles for all of the segments. I don't know if this is because they booked it into x class which I think may be a the code for redemptions (does anyone know if this is correct?). Either way I've no points and no one at Virgin or Etihad will take responsibility!

I'm curious did you manage to get this solved? I have just taken an upgrade flight and upon getting the credit to Virgin it has come up with 0 status and 0 points. I have read the T & C's and it says I should be getting the original Y fare points and status, but not zero. Were you successful in your claim?

It was resolved last week. It involved numerous emails and calls, eventually I emailed the Chief Executive explained that I was grateful for the opportunity to fly with Etihad as a partner airline, but it only works if the points and status credits are awarded. I got an email 5 days later apologising and detailing the points credited! The problem for me was that Etihad had erroneously put the paid upgrade through as a redemption flight. I sent Virign my credit card statement to show proof of payment for the upgrade, they then said they could not locate me on the specified flight (despite me giving them the PNR and booking reference!). Was definitely a hassle, but got there in the end. Good luck!

Just for info EY sell a Economy to Biz upgrade at MEL for $700 one way on MEL-AUH.

Same situation happened to me. It was posted as an X fare which is classed as a redemption and as such no points or status. Happily though it only took one email to Velocity through the Contact Us form on the website, and 5 days later the points and SC's were posted to my account. All good really and frankly worth every penny for a J seat to LHR from SYD.
