EY flight from hell, on tarmac for 12 hours

This is terrible.

People can easily tolerate 1-2 hours locked up like that. Possibly 3 hours maximum. But 12 and 13 hours would simply be torture. If that was me I would have been out of there.

These are human beings not cattle. Who cares about USA pre clearance.

How terrible. Why do we keep hearing stories like this of passengers stuck in a plane on a Tarmac for hours. Surely airlines could come up with protocols to avoid this. After 2 hours you would be upset, after 4 hours I would be furious. I can't imagine after 12 hrs. Why didn't they let them back in the terminal?

I was delayed 4 hours in JFK on QF B744 back in September due to two flat tyres when we were taxiing to the runway. Fortunately, I was in J, and they served drinks, let us use the entertainment system and recline in the chair. I watched a movie and relaxed a bit. While it was a bit inconvenient, no major dramas. Fortunately, it wasn't 12 hours! And I'm very glad not to have been in Y.

Sorry, can I slip a bit O/T? Phenergan - is that prescription or non? Is it a 'relaxant' like temazipan, or something stronger. My sleep is terrible on planes and I'm looking to move up from temazipan (GP willing)
