Just changed a flight online for my partner for tomorrow pm (SYD-MEL), had to move the flight back two hours. Original flight in K class, new flight in K class, but since flight was booked two weeks ago, fare has gone up, so when changing got slugged extra $$$. I was going to say this . But really this  is more appropriate.

OK OK I know the fare rules only give you the right to use what you paid as credit for future flight (not to actually just change flights), but just something I didn't fully appreciate.

Lesson for next time is don't bother changing, just show up at the airport early and change there. There wouldn't need to be K class availabilityon the new flight, only an empty WHY seat.

That works well when wanting to get on an earlier flight ( if prepared to take the gamble on there still being space ) however not too good if wanting to leave on a later flight than booked ( as the OP seemed to want to do )

I must admit I read the OP through beer coloured glasses and mis-read it.

That'll do it everytime. :D

Apparently , the other solution is to call up QF and they move you without charging the increment .... but of course there is a $10 change fee for changing the booking over the phone

Some years ago I rebooked a FULL Y MEL-SYD fare online (don't ask) and it cost me an additional $2 on the CC (as the fare had changed).
