Expiring Krisflyer Miles - When can I travel?

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I am now being told by Krisflyer that the points extension only applies to points that are in your account at the time of the extension. If you make a booking and then cancel it the points extension does not apply.

Email them and say you wish to cancel and pay the applicable cancellation fees but please do not let the points expire as if you hadn't tried to use them by making a redemption they wouldn't be expiring till Jan 2023 or whatever date is, so please just extend them to that date
After emailing them back and forth I received an email saying I would pay $75 US per ticket to redeposit my miles. Imagine how relieved I was until just now I received another email informing me they could not actually refund the miles and I would lose the lot.

Two days ago I was sent an email that I would get a phone call and my points would be refunded after I pay the $50 USD fee. Yesterday I was told that I have lost close to a million points because they have expired. So until you get the points back their emails mean nothing. I said to the agent that I had been advised by one of your agents that I could cancel for a refund of points and she said that means nothing if you don't record the conversation. I also have a screen shot which states, All points have expired and will be refunded. I don't know know how to make them change their mind, this has been going back and forward like this for over five months.

Yes it’s very disappointing. I’m going to try and hold them to the first confirmation they gave on the email.

.
I continue to phone and email daily.

I didn't just cancel this without being assured by their agent that points will be refunded. I also have a screen shot that says points have expired and will be refunded. I also checked thier website which made no mention in terms and conditions that points used for a booking are not eligible for extension.

What more would a reasonable person do?

I continue my journey and hope for an outcome like taurus

I guess Im going to have to make plans (and budget) to extend my KF points in late December - hopefully its not too painful

To those lucky enough to get their points back, does your reinstated points expire in 3 years or just a few months from now?

Well in a disturbing turn of events, after receiving an email in September advising my points would be reinstated in 6-8 weeks, I received a call on Tuesday again asking for credit card to charge US75 per ticket for points to be refunded. Money was duly debited from my card and receipts emailed to me. On Wednesday, I received an email saying sorry, your points expired and you're not getting them back. When I protested they told me I could "appeal" and they were sorry for my disappointment. Here we go again!

Hi Taurus

I feel your pain having gone through the same situation. All I can advise is to keep calling until you get someone who knows what they are talking about.

Best wishes

Do you have any SQ status?
Mine took minimal back and forth, perhaps as I took up the free SQ Gold offer last year by transferring more miles in

No status. I didn't know about the offer. Sadly though I just spent over $6500 on flights with SIA a few weeks ago thinking they had come through as promised. Ouch.

Last update (I hope). After my last email I received receipts for refund of taxes and checked my account into which 11k miles had been re-deposited. I had pretty much resigned myself to giving up when this morning I checked my account and found all 600k + miles reinstated! Thanks for all the advice and encouragement I found here. Much appreciated 😃.

Well done. Now to book something before they expire.
How long did it take you all up to get your point’s refunded
