Ok, I'm on of those flyers on here that jumped at a trip o/s as soon as the borders opened. I have a major industry event on the 2nd November in the USA, so booked a flight to LAX with QF on the 1st.

My question relates to ExpertFlyer. I'm new to using this tool, but 2 days again there were only 4-5 J class seats and no other business seats available, and around the same number in Premium Economy. Now it's is looking VERY different with at least 9 in almost every fare class. I know the timing of the flight changed this morning, I wonder if that played a part and the information isn't correct?

Sorry if there is an obvious explanation, but I'm more just watching, hoping to use my over 1M points for an upgrade.

I can’t see it on Expert Flyer as U is 0
But I could book a seat on it through the App.

I think there’s a good chance for an upgrade.
Alternatively if your fare is refundable then see if you can book the Award and then cancel the paid fares.

I think QF may release more seats at -T80. Maybe this is the reason more seats are showing. Check to see if any seats are showing in the U fare bucket. These are the freebies

Cheers. It's a business trip anyway, so using points for an upgrade is fine, but I'll need to pay the base fare with $$.

I can't even count the number of times when U was sitting at Zero but I,D, C and J had seats and the upgrade came through in the end. I'd also say you have a VERY good chance of an upgrade depending on your status. Given you have so many points and status was pretty much a freebie over the past two years, I assume you are Platinum or higher?

From experience, that's the key thing that matters with QF ugrades- I had plenty a friend or work colleague asking me about their chances for an upgrade in the past and I don't give them any info anymore if they're Gold or even lower, they usually are out of luck anyway.

UPGRADE CAME THROUGH!

Yeah, I'm platinum and my colleague (Silver) was linked on my booked and he got upgraded too. So relieved. Sitting masked up for 14 hours, going though pre-tests, preparing docs etc, was not something I was overly excited about, but now I feel much better!
