Many years ago I (or my alter ego aspro) asked a similar question here to little response, but I think the scenario was less common then:

Think about delays/disruptions affecting e.g.
  1. separately ticketed flights with "reasonable" transit time allowed (not the novice 2-hr transit between Ryanair and Easyjet:confused:),
  2. train-to-plane-to-taxi-to-tugboat and other mixed-mode connections (ok, plane-to-train is fine too;))
Some policies offer cover for missed connections, sometimes worded as cover to reach pre-paid travel arrangements in time. There are many AFFers who do independent mixed-mode or mixed-ticket travel, so I think it would be really helpful to have a thread on AFF covering scenarios and successful claims.

Some policies cover getting to the connection point in time, while others cover alternative transport to the destination, and some have sneakier/messier wording. How has it actually worked out for you with specific policies?

Please avoid examples of special event connections (weddings/concerts), as they're less useful and often specifically covered by stingier policies.
