Wondering if anyone has experienced seat 16A on the A380.

Seat selection screen shows it as an extra legroom seat. I think there is a galley between it and the first door on the upper deck. So, would the setup be similar to 11A for example?

I've only travelled in the front half of the A380 business cabin and can't recall anything specific about the other section.

It's not at the exit door. That's about 5 metres further forward. It is right next to the bassinets though....

Thanks Justin, that's very useful. The map seems much more detailed than QF's own map on the A380 specifications page.

Thanks jb747. Seat selection in MMB sort of implies it is located at an exit as it is coded green as an "extra legroom" seat. However, I realised when looking at the QF & now the aeroLOPA seat maps that it is clear there is a galley in between. Very good point about the bassinet positions though, I hadn't noticed that.

All in all, could be a good alternative if 11A doesn't open up at T-80.

Depending on what route you're flying (day/night), be aware that 11A (and 11K) are next to the new lounge space and it can get a little noisy depending on what sort of crowd is on board (guilty as charged on my last trip traveling with friends - but it was a day flight QF1 SYD-SIN).

But I'd probably select 11A over 11K (there's more lounge seating on the starboard side). and 16A/K

Agree on this :( Noise easily carries from people talking in the lounge to the front rows.

My go to choice is 13A/K. Proper window seat and zero noise from the lounge.

Row 15 is ok and doesn’t seem to get much galley or strange noises from the loo immediately behind.

11A is actually ok even with the new lounge arrangements.
I’ve flown 3 long hauls in the last couple of weeks there.
No noise noticed at all. Well maybe except from the baby back in Row 16 but the Bose took care of that.

I love that 11A has a massive footwell due to being cut into the bulkhead.
Another bonus on the overnight flights is that you are last to get served breakfast as they start at the back of the J cabin. Extra snooze time.

I forgot how many people think the wardrobe is the toilet though !!
The signs with the arrow pointing backwards clearly aren’t read very well.
Lost count of how many people I redirected last night 😂

11K SYD-SIN-LHR on Thursday. I’ll report back.
The flight left SYD at about 5pm so, compared to the 11:30pm departure from SIN to LHR, this was likely to be the leg that the lounge rocked. I looked in at the lounge a couple of times in the first 3 hours and there was no-one there. I looked again towards the end of the flight - still no occupants. I wasn’t disturbed at all during the flight by any noise whatsoever from the lounge.

And, as indicated by Princess Fiona, yep a couple of people tried to open the door of the wardrobe to go to the toilet. It is handy having the wardrobe next to you as I just slipped my clothes onto hangers and hung them up in there after changing into PJs.

On the flight to London a couple of people used it, but mostly for working on their laptops.

No problems at all with 11K’s location based on this experience.

Many thanks for the update Hampton Mike.

After selecting 16A originally, 11K opened up at T-80, so I've changed to that.

I will have a wander through the other cabin and try to get a better look at 16A & K to see if they are the same as the row 11 counterparts.

It’s astounding how many people, on a 737, think the thin cabin bulkhead in front of row 1 - and before the exit door - is somehow a toilet!! I mean c’mon, it defies all logic!!

I had 15K on QF2 a few months ago and did notice some slamming/thuds from the lav behind, might have been a slightly broken lav seat or some such causing extra commotion but definitely noticed it when trying to sleep. Otherwise a good seat tucked away back there

Just off from my flight in 11K - experience as good as 11A, hardly anyone moving between the cabin and the lounge area. Certainly wasn't affected by any noise. Didn't see anyone try to use the closet as a toilet, thankfully.

My main complaint however, would be that the cabin crew were constantly opening the closets on both the A & K sides to retrieve their bags during the flight. More of a distraction than an annoyance.

Had a wander through the rear cabin and 16A & K looked to be identical to 11A & K. The one advantage would be that there is no corresponding set of middle seats, so It would be a bit more private. However, this is the location of the bassinets (which are huge!), and some might find this troublesome.
