Hi All,

Posted a little while back regarding booking a classic reward flight for our honeymoon to Japan that we were hoping to book for just after Easter next year. There was nothing showing using the regular classic rewards via return flights, so messed around with the mutli-city tool and managed to strike lucky.
  • 8-Apr Syd-(KUL)-SIN in Y (would prefer direct if it becomes available so will track)
  • 10-Apr SIN-NRT in Y
  • 20-Apr NRT-(HKG)-SYD in Y+
My next goal is to try and get some premium seating. Have plenty of points to burn, and I'll be heading to SCG from NBB next month which may open up more seats. Just looking for some guidance on the best way to track inventories via alerts or something?
I also believe I should be able to make the self-upgrades myself just by paying any points and dollar difference plus a 5000 pp point fee, is this correct?
I'll keep the thread updated with my trials and tribulations over the next few months in case it is helpful to anyone in future as case study.

Thanks!

I've found setting up alerts on Flighseats.io to be very useful in finding available seats. It's confirmed to me that seats can and do become available from time to time.

Also I'm fairly sure your QFF status has no bearing on your ability to see reward seats on non-Qantas flights.
