How quick or slow is exiting CDG usually ?
I am landing mid week via JAL landing approximately 15.40.
There is a TGV at 16.21 next one with vacant seats isn't till 18.00
I suspect I am unlikely to get cleared that quickly ?
I will have no checked baggage
My terminal is 2E

I can't remember how long it took but I know I chose the later train and when I got to the train station I asked if I could go on the earlier train and they changed it for me. My French is very basic but we managed.

When I arrived in CDG on JL, I don't think I was landside and at the TGV station within 40 minutes! That would be very tight. Best to take the later option.

The main holdups were immigration queues and, well, the poor layout of CDG.

The TGV station is inbetween T2C/D and T2E/F so it isn't a long distance.
But CDG is notoriously difficult to navigate and I wouldn't be confident of clearing immigration and making it there in 40 minutes.
However if you buy a flexible ticket for the earlier train you would be able to change it to the later option if you miss it.
If you are travelling in 2nd class this attracts a fee. In first class it may attract a fee but if you book the "business premiere" fare it is changeable and refundable free of charge.
You may get some extras with that such as access to lounges, a host, a welcome aboard beverage and newspaper.
Not sure if there is a lounge at CDG but it might be useful if you are changing trains later (if you are changing at Lyon for Avignon, for example).
