I'm on a flight to Auckland on a 737-800 tomorrow in seat 13A.

I just noticed that it is an exit row. I did not request this. I always thought that you had to be sighted first before an exit row would be assigned. Has the rules changed? I'm a silver status ff member.

Perhaps now that they are also selling them they have to allow pre-assignments.

I've been pre-assigned exit rows a couple of times (as a QP NB and a QP PS).

Both were domestic 738 flights.

The first time it even allowed me to print my BP via OLCI which is not what is supposed to happen.

The second time was recently and when I OLCIed it printed a 'confirmation' which had to be exchanged at the airport for a BP, so the 'suitability for exit row' check could take place. I believe this is what is supposed to happen.

I'm wondering if TT flights are arranged more like DOM sectors for seat allocation. I remember reading something about that.

Yes but the system is often less from perfect. Last week I flew after being injured a couple days beforehand. I had requested special assistance since was struggling to walk yet it still allocated me an exit row. I was bemused and the lounge staff weren't impressed that I was requiring to be driven to the gate and helped to an exit row
