Hi again folks,

My wife and I are booked for PER - MEL - LAX and return, and we have booked seats in row 44 for the A332 to MEL and back to PER, and then row 79 for the A388 to LAX and back.

I am wondering if these seats still use the 2 pronged headphones ports, as I will buy an adapter if they do.
I am also wondering if these seats are also equipped with AC power and a USB port for in flight charging, seeing as there is no seat in front of us where these are usually located.

Many thanks

I was hoping someone could help with this - I did a search an wasn't able to uncover any relevant info

My advice would be just to buy the adaptor anyway - mine stays in my travel backpack, so I never really think about which planes do/don't need it because I've always got it.

Does seatguru or seatexpert mention the power in those seats?

All current Qantas aircraft that have audio sockets use the 2 pronged type.

As for power, while it is not standard on the 330¹, it is on the 388.

You will find the socket in your row 79 exit seat under the arm rest. Is accessed in the storage slot for your monitor. It is not accessible when the monitor is stowed. It's hard to see TBH.

Be aware that the access to the socket is quite narrow and any plugs² wider than a standard plug probably won't reach.

¹ Note there is a 110vac 400hz socket near the row 44 seats - discreetly use at own risk.
² Including, especially, "power packs" - those with inbuilt transformers.

While they do use the two-pronged audio connectors, Airbus/Qantas were actually smart enough on the A380 to also equip the audio connectors to output stereo sound through one plug if a normal pair of headphones is plugged in ;)

As to the power, serfty is completely right - I was unable to plug in a certain charger of mine, as it was too wide to fit down into that area. Luckily I also had the USB charger and was able to use that connection instead :) ... also, the only thing I don't like about the USB connection in exit row seats is that it's on the side, rather than, say, at the end of the armrest - this meant that when I had something plugged into the USB connector, I was pressing up against it (and I am by no means overweight)... just something to keep in mind! :)

Also, to those in the know - when I was sitting in 79B recently, I noticed that in addition to the power plug located between seats, there was also one located low on the (left-hand side) wall, covered by a while flap that indicated the output (I don't remember what it said - so I don't know if it's the same as the normal seat power)... is this plug for passenger use, or just for use during servicing/vacuuming? ... I meant to ask the FA sitting opposite us, but it slipped my mind! :)

See note ² from my post above. Also, if intending to employ this consider the likelihood or otherwise of the 80A occupant (even 80B sometimes) being affected by such possible use when attempting to exit their seat.
