EWR no longer NYC after OCT 22

EWR, JFK and LGA are all operated by the Port Authority of NY/NJ, and there are plans afoot to extend PATH to EWR NJ Transit/Amtrak (not the terminals unfortunately)

Poor Continenetal Airlines - they still have disgraced Smisek quatsch aka rubbish to contend with .. sounds a bit like QANTAS aka Ozzie Airlines and their Ansett import Joycie who has managed to butcher The Spirirt of Australia whilst on tens of millions of salary/bonuses
As someone who has flown the hound pre-COVID quite extensively, I resent such statements. Were their lounges crummy? Absolutely! But you know what? They knew how to treat you as an elite! Being a Gold and having access to that 50+ inches of pitch on a 777 across the ocean in an Economy+ seat on a Basic Economy fare was a real treat! Being able to check in three bags with them when I moved continents was nice (and not once were my bags lost!). Being able to buy a $900 USD return fare from LHR to SYD (via LAX) and upgrading the entire outbound to Polaris J for $650 USD + 35,000 miles was a treat!

As for Uncle Alan and what's in store Qantas, it remains to be seen! Certainly the QF lounges be it the pubs or the proper lounges have always been a cut above UA. Catering on domestic flights was a huge revelation for me, as this was something neither UA nor AC did on domestic Y flights. Imagine flying 10 hours from Chicago to Honolulu and just being offered a coke on board?
Never made sense to include EWR in NY as it is well and truely in NJ, and the only way to get from EWR to NYC is in a NJ taxi, via NJ transit (bus or train) or private vehicle.
I guess you can say LGA and JFK are New York airports since they are in Queens, but travel/distance wise it's a real coughshoot to say any of them are more in NYC proper. Realize too that there are few airports in the world that are located in the city in question proper. Most are out in the 'burbs.
As per Frankfurtflyer IIROPS will not allow re-routing to JFK if flying to EWR and v.v EWR is still a Continental pit Personally I use JFK and LGA From the UWS its much cheaper and easier to access first world airports than to cross into NJ And that applies for public transport as well as taxi/driving
That's the big issue no one is really talking about. If the airlines stop treating it as an effective co-terminal for IRROPs handling, folks can be in for a rude awakening. Remember too that LGA only does domestic, mostly short haul flights (Canadian destinations are domestic and I say that as a Canadian) so if you run into congestion or weather issues at JFK you are out of luck. And there certainly have been cases when I have travelled where one airport was in the midst of a crummy weather system whereas the other avoided it. Then again, we'll have to see how airlines treat this for IRROPs purposes.

I've flown in and out of NYC area about 150 times as I flew 2 million real miles on CO and UA, and personally I preferred EWR to LGA and JFK. All dumps pretty much! (Like LAX)

There is an airport bus service that is cheap from EWR to downtown Manhattan and v.v. - $9.30 seems low to me, as many of us are seniors - aged 62 and up.

There was an odd quirk I used 4 or 5 years back on Delta where ATL to EWR was a few miles more than ATL-JFK as I recall, and that ave us a lot more Virgin SC in 'First' as one was JUST over a mileage earn zone by 10 miles or something. :)

Anyway that partnership is over, but it might work from IAH or ORD. :)
