Countdown NZ will rebrand as Woolworths, and as part of that they are launching Everyday Rewards there.

I assume it will be a sister program rather than the same due to the currency difference, and there's no word whether they'll partner with QF. Air NZ already partner with New World so it is possible they will link up with QF, or perhaps no airline at all.

I wonder if it will be possible to transfer points between the NZ and AU programs?

That should be a bit better for QFF members than the AA Smartfuel tie-up between Countdown and QFF :)

I'd be surprised because Flybuys wasn't ever transferable. Not even sure if NZ still has Flybuys

Different situation, Flybuys (still in operation) is a completely separate company, who licenced the name Flybuys from the Australian arm (owned by the Coles Group).

Woolworths is the same company on both sides of the ditch.

The existing combined Countdown - AA NZ loyalty card "Onecard/AA Smartfuel card" does not have the same features as the AU WW everyday card. Mainly used for fuel discount.

AA NZ/QF NZ --> Travel-lovers set to benefit as AA Smartfuel’s new partnership with Qantas Frequent Flyer takes flight
QF NZ ----------> https://www.qantas.com/nz/en/frequent-flyer/partners/aa-smartfuel.html

In NZ most people get a $0.04 discount on the published petrol price by some method.
Countdown & AA NZ announced, on 13 June 2033, the end of the partnership from early 2024.

In my part of NZ, near CHC, BP (=AA Smartfuel) tends to more expensive. NDP, with $0.15 senior discount, cheaper 90% of the time. Or Allied self serve a few km away.

Have tried the AU Everyday card at Countdown NZ:- does not recognise.
Maybe next year it will!

Ahhh, already talked about.
I see, will get mods to delete my other waffly.

FB Aust and FB NZ are different, owned by different organisations, as mentioned.
Woolworths could go the same way as FB Aust and FB NZ operate their systems separately, but of course, would be great if they could somehow be joined.
Woolworths Tas and Woolworths Aust mainland now have a joined EDR system, I think its started?

How it’ll work
Everyday Rewards has been designed to be as hassle-free as possible with an easy-to-understand 1-for-1 points
system that you’ll be familiar with from Onecard, where every $1 spent at Woolworths earns 1 reward point.

At bp, you will earn 1 reward point for every litre of fuel and $1 spent at the bp shop, wildbean cafe or on bp car
washes. Members will be able to unlock a further ‘always-on’ cents off per litre discount alongside other benefits
each time they swipe their Everyday Rewards card.

An enhanced Boost offer programme and more opportunities to earn across our partner network will mean you’ll
be able to reach 2000 points faster and get a $15 voucher to use at your choice of Woolworths or bp.
<snip>
May be similar in the AU Woolworth everyday programme

An an email from AAsmartfuel
In light of the recent changes to the loyalty landscape in New Zealand, a full review of the
AA Smartfuel programme was undertaken.
As a result of this review, it has been decided that the AA Smartfuel programme will end
permanently effectuve 11.59pm 31 January 2024. This means that the final date to earn and
redeem AA Smartfuel discounts is 31 January 2024, and any AA Smartfuel discounts earned in the
month of January 2024 will need to be redeemed by 31 January 2024.
Was a link up between BP-AAsmarfuel-QF, separate to and before Countdown. This looks to be gone. Was a good way to get a few QF points to keep QF accounts alive.

Interesting. By "recent changes to the loyalty landscape in New Zealand", is AA Smartfuel referring to Woolworths or something else?

Would be good if the Woolies Rewards card could be used in both countries.

Similar story but different side of the world, I had a Tesco Clubcard from the UK, which used to be a BA Executive Club partner, and tried using it at Tesco Ireland - it worked, unexpectedly, and just awarded points per EUR instead of GBP. Simple thing, but I was overly pleased with myself for earning something like 7x Clubcard points (~16 Avios or something at the time - was 1x Clubcard point=2.4 Avios) 😂.

No idea if it still works, or if it works in other flavours of Tesco from other countries (Thailand had Tesco Lotus some years ago, and I remember seeing one in Slovakia or somewhere like that, about a decade ago).

According to the stuff nz website, lots of similarities, but it does not appear to be/no linkage between the Aust EDR and the new NZ EDR system, ie, if we can use it when we go across and when our NZ friends come over to Aust.
Pity that.
Imagine if we could use the same card in both countries, but we can only dream.
Maybe we need an NZ EDR section on AFF soon!

It's a rebranding/relaunch of the existing Countdown rewards program Onecard, part of the rebrand from Countdown to Woolworths.

Even though Countdown/Woolworths NZ is part of Woolworths Group, it is an entirely separate division then the Australian supermarkets.
I don't see the NZ program being linked to the AU program unless there are large amounts of complaints about it after the NZ launch.

Has any NZ based colleagues started to use it yet?
Have noticed on Google maps that Countdown at various places in NZ have now changed over to the Woolworths name.
===
Oops, I see, not 01 Feb 2024.
Noted.
---
No app at this point either.
===
Edited:
Sorry, ah, as per the previous system, they (ie members) still have put to put it in they have a NZ residential address ...
Well that puts a dampner in the works.
Ok, sorry for the waffly.
Will keep quiet on this now.

Nothing yet (its not Feb!)
Shopped at my local NZ Countdown on Tues (~CHC area). Still branded Countdown. NZ govt Seniors card get 5% discount in Tuesdays.
Have applied on line for the new NZ WW Everyday card: mid Jan delivery. Used same email as AU WW Everyday card.
At times have issues with business that operate in AU & NZ is using the same email address:- can error as "duplicate email" or similar message. From this conclude AU & NZ Everyday rewards will be separate.

New Everyday Rewards program in NZ launches on Thursday.

Basically, you earn 1 point per $1 and can get a $15 voucher to spend at Woolworths (Countdown) or BP for every 2,000 points earned.
No airline options? That's a shame if so, not that it really matters to me, but I'd use it the handful of times I use Countdown when in NZ.

Downsides:
As mentioned, no airline options.
And still need an NZ address, so if you do visit very often, and have a very close trustworthy friend/relo, to have their address as yours, or use their card.
No smart phone app by the looks of it.
---
Guess that they have to still send a plastic card out to street address, maybe that is why they need it.
Or maybe it so that they knows its an individual who is applying for it.
---
OffT: New World FB NZ also needs a street address. OnT.

Being able to credit to QF would be good.

Looks like the NZ program will share an app with the Australian one.
Wonder how that will work in NZ, if have a Woolworth Everyday AU account and a Woolworth Everyday NZ account, as I have. (use the same email for both). Would be good if Everyday AU account/app worked in Kiwiland and credited to AU account.

From an email a few weeks ago, Woolworth Everyday NZ have sent a new physical card to my NZ residential address (but not there to get it).

So in Australia, A$1000 spend gets you A$10 discount

In NZ, NZ$2000 gets you NZ$15 discount, which is the same as A$1000 spend for A$7.50 discount.

Would not surprise me if they are keeping the option option of making it a single currency between both countries, and members can redeem in either country.
