No you're certainly not alone...in recent years I have taken to flying with a packet of wet wipes, which, much to the amusement of neighbouring pax, I use to wipe down the armrests, TV buttons etc. I also always take the table out and wipe it down. Once I stared doing this I noticed a marked decrease in getting colds etc... I also noticed just how disgustingly filthy the armrests and buttons are!

Ever thought about just using the Dettol hand gel to wash your hands afterwards. I think they come in 100ml varieties, safe for air travel!

I don't mean to pick on anyone in particular - however going overboard with making sure surfaces are disinfected before touching them etc. could potentially cause weaker immune system responses when you actually do get sick from something.

Slightly different topic, but my personal favourite was at work - when the swine flu scare started, our HR department put anti-bacterial hand wash bottles out everywhere - never mind the fact that the flu is a virus, not a bacteria, so the hand wash did nothing to prevent the spread of the flu in any case.

My take on it is it's a normal human condition to get sick from time to time. *shrug*

Julian O'Neill type decorating?

The people that use the QF Lounge in Hi Vis gear are generally the Professionals and semi professionals. The general 'rock apes' take a while to get in there or show up just in time for that 0530 to Newman, Para, KTA or the 0620 to Hedland and don't seem to frequent the lounge too often (judging by the numbers downstairs in the morning). Never had a drama and find the people polite but not real chatty, but who is at that time of day?

I frequently wander into the QP at KTA and PER in Hi Viz orange mine shirt - I learned a few years ago to walk without dragging my knuckles on the ground, I found it was no good for my Tag watch...! - you are correct in your assumption that most Hi Viz people in the QP's (PAX) are professionals.

Mr!

I was thinking the exact same thing. I've not experienced the behaviour Oneworldplus2 is referencing. In my experience it's generally those who as the others have mentioned, are semi-professional or professional ; this is where I fit in whenever I've had to do trips up to KTA, TPR (yes, I used to enjoy the b*s ;)), ZNE!
