OK, OK, when a big "do a search" results or "we've known of this for months now--here's the link!" I promise I'll take it in the right spirit. :)

But on the off, off, off chance the info didn't originalte from this very forum to begin with, take a look at this TB thread and tell me whatcha think:

( it appears now that one can book Europe-> S.W.Pacific award and -not- be limited to transit in Asia. That is to say transits in DXB using the QF/EK flights are now possible. First reported (to my knowledge, anyway) on FT, examined a bit on TB here: )AA award travel stopover/transit/routing rules for one-way flex-awards - Page 8 - Traveling Better Forums

About two weeks ago I booked, online, a F AA reward MUC - MEL trip on Qantas for November via DXB (and the connecting flight on BA for MUC-LHR). All safely ticketed for the normal amount of miles (80k).

Exactly the kind of ticket I'm seeing in my searching. And that's exactly the point, the "normal" amount of miles up until this change would be 100K for 2 awards-- Europe-> DXB and DXB-> MEL-- since the rule is/was:

Europe to/from South Pacific:
Award travel between Europe and the South Pacific will allow for connections in Bangkok, Hong Kong, Narita, Osaka or Singapore only.
(add PVG to that list)

So, there has either been a complete, partial or individual (to accommodate those two QF flights-- DXB-MEL and DXB-SYD) change to this/these rule/rules.

And i am seeing SYD-DXB-LHR F Aawards on aa.com at 80K as well.
