Thai Airways has their earlybird deals at the minute. Picked up BNE-BKK-FCO fares in Y for 1100 return on the weekend. Very long travel window (Jan to Sep '20).

saw on gumtree of all places BNE, SYD, MEL or PER to EU in June/July school holidays for $1177 return.

Enquired & could get BNE/BKK/BRU or MXP 21 June, back 2-3 weeks later, still in school holidays for the quoted $1177 return.

Good connections on way over, but 18 hours on way back. Apparently if you leave the airport, you have to pay 800 baht, about AUD$35 departure tax to get the last flight home. The connections were much better to SYD, MEL, but if you fly back to BNE via SYD or MEL or PER, it's a higher fare, ie. they won't absorb the OZ domestic leg.

Read some posts on T/A which were basically saying if you get BP's and checked baggage all the way through to Aus, then you don't have to pay (as you would never approach the check-in counter). Just avoid going to transit area in BKK, head for arrivals and leave. If for some reason you did approach check in counter landside at BKK while heading back airside you would have to pay the 800 baht charge.

found even lower fares $1147 return to Europe in June. Must be before school holidays.

They also have some low fares to USA.

Probably a good place to advertise as can cost nothing.

Yep, been looking at it that for awhile as an option and also hoping that a WY sale from CGK bobs up as an option also.
Looking at August flying into MXP or FRA and it’s $2800 return in J on QR. Use my points to get to MNL and back and have a couple of days R&R in Boracay or Palawan on the way home.

$3328 for 2 adults + 2 kids BNE/MXP May 20, back June 15on Thai (B777/A350). Good connections on way over, not on way back, so up for an airport hotel for 18 hours.
