Europcar or Hertz program, which better to opt in for quick status & France rental?

I attained gold late last year, but never rent cars so didn't bother opting into VA's leg up for either Hertz or Europcar.
That's now changed and I need to make two car bookings for an upcoming trip to France.

Is anyone able to advise which is better in Europe / more willing to provide the potential upgrade they plug?
Also the trip is next month. I've read a lot about delays in processing (especially Europcar). Some of the wait times seem immense, is this still the case?
Which is more willing to actually honour my status in time?

go Europcar as it is better in europe. I believe you get extra discounts.
also the other advantage of going to europcar is that when you are elite ( as you will be with gold va) you will get Accor gold status. However there is a trick to do it.


Firstly opt into Europcar on the VA website. Eurocar will usually respond back within a few weeks to get you elite but this is too long to wait. The way around it is to then go to the europcar website and apply for a normal membership. You will instantly get the lowest tier. Then speak to or email europcar stating that you are VA gold and need your Europcar membership,updated. I spoke to Natalie and have her email address if needed.Then lognonto europcar website with your credentials and change a few settings as requested by Natalie. Natalie will,then email you statingn elite tier. This all took less than a day for me.
once you are elite log on and look for accor club on the europcar website and apply. Hey presto you are now gold there too.

Before you opt not anything compare the rates, that will be a factor, then compare what you will earn in terms of miles, keeping in mind crediting to other possible program's besides VA.
