Etiquette of getting a table at a restaurant

We have been on cruises where some others did just that even taking back books to the pool attendant. You really can't take it out on the attendant as the cruise line had rules saying leaving of personal items on pool chairs/lounges is not allowed.

Not just a German thing - plenty of Aussies do it here unfortunately!

Haha that maybe the case, but the Germans certainly have the reputation as the masters of this trick!
