Etihad service in J. Anyone else disappointed?

I messaged Etihad on their Facebook Messenger and the reply was "no more pjs"

we shall see, in under two weeks and I'll be sure to post and give my opinion about the flights- we are flying MEL-AUH-IST and on the way home - AMMAN-AUH-MEL.

We received PJs 5 weeks ago on MEL-AUH, the late departure, but not the next leg to MAN (which was essentially a day flight)

Flying out from Rome tomorrow night, so thanks for the heads up, will pack them in our hand luggage just in case & report back!

That's the correct process. Only 'ultra long haul' got the PJs and turn down service. Mel and Syd but not Perth were considered ultra long haul for this purpose. It's very disappointing if they're removing it altogether

no PJs for AUH -MEL yesterday

Did you get an amenity kit?

yes, on both legs actually. Only received it on the long leg on the outbound.

Service was great. I really, really like the dine on demand concept- it just makes sense particularly when you have such a long flight leaving at 9am local time, so local pax are looking for breakfast and those who have come in from Europe just want to sleep some more! And I do like the seat that relaxes into a bed, unlike SQ where you have to get out to flip it. The A380 business studio was amazing, but more often we were on the older style fit out which I still found really comfortable

Thanks for this and your other observations.

We have SYD-AUH-DUB (380+330) coming up in two weeks and ZUR-AUH-SYD (787+380) in eight weeks, all in J, so it is of great interest!

we are halfway through our five week overseas jaunt and this is the first opportunity I've had to write about our Etihad J experience - we all thought it was fabulous. the FAs were absolutely brilliant- smiley, helpful and very nice. The food was the best we've experienced on any airline - everything we tried was so delicious - and the Lounges, both in Melbourne and Abu Dhabi were just great.
There were no pj's - as expected. but that was ok.
If I had one tiny comment about the flat bed - I'm not so sure that I love the pod type experience- so, even though every J seat has aisle access- if your bed is flat, you have to put the bed back up into seat position before you can get out of your pod. I found this annoying in the middle of a sleep if I wanted to go to the bathroom.
Apart from that- just fabulous.

We will be doing the return journey at the end of October- and I hope we have the same great experience. If Etihad is watching... seriously though, bring back the chauffeur.

To the OP two original questions.
No I won't fly this airline.
And if there is 747 or 777 on the route I will take that over a 380.

Flying Mel- AUH - Dublin tomorrow . 777w outwards and the A380 back at the end of Oct. using the last A380 into Mel . It will be interesting to see what my report will be .

Yes used my etihad first pjs on the outbound 777 mel to Dublin ,the crew an I had a laugh about it ! Hopefully they can redeem themselves on the way back on the A380 ! The short flight on the A332 was good because they got the proactive and reactive close to right bur the long haul Mel to Auh was less than right because imo they were 1 to 2 cabin crew short .

Very disappointed and we're taking QF pjs on our EY flights.
