Etihad flight forced to return to Perth after encountering turbulence.

As per above , Etihad B787 flight EY497 - non stop Perth - Abu Dhabi had to return to Perth Airport after encountering severe turbulence off the coast of WA on Thursday. It must have been pretty bad to force a return and I assume beyond the "gust suppression system" in the B787 to moderate it sufficiently - assuming of course that the system does actually make a difference.

I was surprised when I heard this on the news. Must have been one hell of a flight.
