Etihad boosts Gold Elite benefits

Hi Euroflyer
I flew J in January Mel- LHR and CDG- Mel on return leg. Platinum card or status was not recognised at any stage. Out of interest i handed my Velocity Plat Card to staff with passport at check in staff at Melbourne and CDG. On both occasions they asked me what it was.
However, the J offer was very good indeed with an Etihad ground crew to greet us at Abu Dhabi and speed us through transfer, check us into lounge and escort us into plane on both transits. Funnily enough we were greeted by ground crew at bottom of stairs when plane arrived "off stand" and whisked in BMW to lounge. Given the business lounge was busy we were escorted into the First lounge in Abu Dhabi. I was impressed at every stage but I don't think any of it can be attributed to Platinum Status.

I am also very happy about this as I am flying in July in J with a junior work partner in Y on her first international flight. Was thinking of how my Etihad Gold would have got her into the smaller old lounge then I could head to the Pearl lounge. Now we can both swan along into the Diamond lounge - which is a great lounge.
