eSims, what is your experience.

E-sim Thailand… bought online through Agoda before arrival.

10 day/50GB AUD4.12 through AIS. Almost impossible to install and one of only two carriers requiring ‘advance registration’. You have to verify your identity though their app before use, submit your passport, and takes up to 24 hours for verification. Only then can you install the e-sim. FAIL. (yes, the advance registration was written in the small print, but who reads that?? lol)

10 day/50GB AUD6 through DTAC. Also purchased on Agoda after above problems. Instant email with QR code, installed immediately, good to go.

TravelKon is running a sale at the moment. Their prices are very competitive during sales, the support is quite good, and they're based in Perth.

3GB/30 day Europe going for A$10.50

I have used these esims before and it works. Just bought another couple for Europe 15G for 30 days for $49 total price.

That’s possibly on the high side. One of my go to options (Monty) is US$10 for 10GB / 30D (Euro/Turkey).

But it’s better than many of the big names. Once you go over 3 to 5GB pm, the price can really jump.

Monty is cheap!!!!! Next time I will give them a go. Thanks SYD

Flexiroam have lost the plot. So called “20% off USA Sale”, but only ludicrous options available…

IMG_6792.jpeg

I don’t need 20GB for 5Ds… 5GB for 7Ds would be fine but that option is no longer available at all….🤷‍♂️

Good thing I had the Orange Flex as back-up which worked a treat (15GB for $0.23), and I used this exclusively for the last ten days of my trip (~11GB). I cancelled the Orange plan once I got back, then promptly got a text saying I’d get a refund of my 23 cents because I used the service for less than 14 days.
nice - definitely the best choice for Europe in general

Eskimo now covers SIN and I noticed in the app that there’s a new “Identity verification” option under account settings. Not sure, but could be related?

Meanwhile, Ubigi have a 10% off promo code “SUMMER10” valid until 30 Sep.

I'll say. I went to the app the other day to see what was on offer and an alternative or back-up to my standard Kolet and found similarly. The app is still a basket case (at least for this relatively unsophisticated user).

PS earning Air France Flying Blue miles on my Kolet purchases - enabling me to buy their miles when they come up for sale.

It’s not great.

Ah, that reminded me to check if I’d received some FB miles after I used some plans a while back and nothing. Checked those plans and they were both freebies…😂. But I have an auto 20% off my next purchase which I must use.

Got that email as well.. Very misleading.

They now have a country plan for Singapore.
But it's not on the list for their regional Asia Pac or Global plans when you check the country listings
Ah, I meant to say that I’d not crossed checked that yet.

As per my earlier comment, I wouldn’t be surprised if you need to validate you ID to get that SIN plan. I believe some other Singtel plans require that for use in SIN?

I have 3x Eskimo Global plans stacked in my account at the moment and I’ll be in SIN later in the year as part of a multi-Asia trip. Slightly ironic if I need to get a seperate plan for a couple of days…
