Book the flight online and then call in. It will cost about USD60 to change the connecting flight date so you can do a stopover in KL.

Thx. Are there any call centres outside of Malaysia? Looks like the only contact I can find is either a Malaysian number or email address..

Just call 132627. Their call centre is based in Malaysia. Don't email. Very slow response there.

Are you guys sure the $60USD still works? Anyone done it recently? When i tried i was told 51k - 60k was what i would have to do

Yes I did this a couple of weeks ago for a redemption flight in April that I am doing. I moved my connecting flight to a date that is two days later. Below are the specific T&C and the exact charges:

  • Change in date/routing allowed for a fee for each award ticket
  • Malaysia / * ASEAN - USD20
  • All other destinations - USD40. Any change in routing that requires additional miles, member must have the sufficient number of miles required for the change of routing. Cash or credit payment for miles purchase will not be accepted.

Would happily pay the change fee but did it incur more points? i.e. another 9K points (the difference) as you are now having a stopover.
Also, can you buy via Enrich for family members if you're not travelling with them. I'm sure the answer is someone in the T&C's but my eyes are so blurry from reading these blogs:)

As long as the points requirement for the different days are the same then no you should not be charged more.

And yes you can buy redemption tickets for someone else even if you are not travelling with them.

I've been trying to make a booking tonight and receive a generic error message at the last stage saying "booking not completed".

Is the website buggy?

Hmm ok thanks. I've tried a few times now with no success. Has anyone ever booked a cash + miles from Australia?

Yep, booked two Syd-Kul a few months ago. 1k miles (per ticket) and the rest in cash, from memory it was relatively straightforward although their website is about as reliable as a Maserati from the 80s.

I've only got the initial 1k pts in my Enrich account and have done a 'points and pay' search for KUL SYD in J just using these. I can't find anything on the website as to what the ratio is for more points vs less dollars. Would anyone with a healthy account balance be able to help and do a search - I'm looking for a $500 - $600 cash payment including taxes and would like to know how many points would be needed.
Many thanks

Bazzi, I had a play around with this on Friday night before booking 2x J to Europe. Seemed to be consistently around 2.5cpp, you should be able to work it out from there after deducting the tax component.

Hmm. Wonder why I can't make it work. Tried several computers and several credit cards. Booking was SYD-KUL-CDG... Maybe the connecting flights stuff something up

My experience is that you can't do stopovers unless they are part of the flight segment/schedule i.e. late pm arrival KUL then 9am flight KUL SYD but have had no problem otherwise. Credit card never been an issue either and I have booked for others and paid with my credit card (diff surname to booking).

I'm not sure I've got the calculations for (more) points/(less) pay correct - seems too little points for too little cash.

Yeah that's what I was trying. Just searched for SYD-CDG and selected one of the two options it presented.

If one does the 1k Enrich points + cash option, can one still earn QFF SCs? It should still be in a revenue fare bucket in J I assume.

I don't think so. It is considered a full award ticket regardless that you are using only 1k points. Cash proportion does not earn Enrich points either. Clips below from Enrich FAQs.

Is Cash + Miles award considered a purchased/revenue ticket?
No, Cash + Miles is an Award ticket. It is a full redemption.

Will I earn Enrich Miles for the cash part paid for the redemption?
No, you will not earn Enrich Miles for the cash portion paid for the redemption.

Won't it depend on the fare bucket.

I'm interested in the answer to this. I understand J cash + miles is booked into D class. Whilst MH says this is non-earning class for Enrich D class ordinarily earns for partner programs. If you insert your AA/QF number on one of these bookings would they know this D class booking is meant to be non-earning? Is there some other flag in the OW system other than fare class?
